Swapping a notorious arms dealer for someone who is borderline anti-American? What a great deal. That reminds me of the time we gave Iran $75 billion for something like a bag of peanuts.

Wait, are you implying that our self-declared betters in the administration might be fuckwits who couldn't negotiate their way out of a damp paper bag? Because you'd be right.

I don't think even she could give that many BJ's! Besides, who knows all the places that mouth has been? Who would want that? It would be one job she could not cackle her way out of!

I think we should bring her back. I don’t think we should trade an international arms dealer for her, but we should definitely work to get her back to the US. She did do something stupid and break their law, but 9 years for some hash oil is excessive and that sentence was definitely maxed out to spite us.

This countries first amendment is about freedom of speech and expression. Leaving her there because she hasn’t stood for our anthem is not a good sign to broadcast to the world. The US is a beacon of freedom of expression and in our history we have supported our own even if they might have had anti-US viewpoints.

For example, during the early days of the Cold War, the US govt bought paintings from various artists, like Georgia O’Keefe and others, some who expressed commie viewpoints, and worked with the Museum of Modern Art to display these across the world. Why? Because it shows that even if you have differing opinions, we won’t lock you up in a Gulag and toss the key. We did it then, and it was rather effective, we should continue to do it to this day, especially against Russia and Putin who is known to lock up opposing party leaders.

After all, smuggling is such a small crime. It should be legal everywhere.
    Yup, sarcasm.
What about pot smugglers that get higher sentences in ther Countries than in the USA? Or Countries that say we are to strict on smugglers?
Which laws should we go by a instead of our own? I'm asking for our government because they can't seem to figure out what Laws apply to who. At what point of popularity or value to the government does the Law cease to apply?

Laws "should" apply to everyone. which we know they don't.

The laws you should obey are the laws in whatever country your in.

    AND.

Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time.

One year ago they would have looked the other way, shes a reasonable big star over there.

    Shes being used.

No one should goto jail for 9 years for that.

The law is the law she should have known better.

    She is being used.

I hope she learns a valuable lesson about America and how good or bad it is. She better be the first one standing at her next national anthem.

I'm in nb the Meh, whatever stage of acceptance.

Yeah, it's getting used. Andcabused like a cheap doormat.
    And should have known better.
Griner has more than enough experience as a celebrity to know that if she gives anyone a reason or opportunity, no matter how slight, to take advantage of her that they will. Right, wrong or just flat ass ignorant, Griner should have known better.
I have no sympathy at all.
