    Hence

If I come across a DW 01941 Valor for sale again, I’ll buy it almost no questions asked. I should’ve gotten that instead of my X9, but I was trying for two in the bush….
Several years ago I found a dealer who regularly stocked DW products and purchased a Valor pistols in 9mm and 45acp.
Wilson Combat is the only pistol I've owned which out performed DW.

BUL ftw? How’s it shaking out for you?

Yup, Bul Armory. The Commander is simply fantastic. The price I paid for the quality of the product is just outstanding. And then the Commander length double stack... absolutely top notch. I just wish I would have know about these years ago, would have been able to save a whole lotta cash and some headaches.

If you're going to spend that kind of money why not get a stacatto?
I'm pretty new to the 1911 world. Last week I went into the shop looking at a Colt Government Stainless ($1100). It's a good looking gun, and the Colt name is one I remember dearly. My grandfather was a WW2 vet and he owned an old Colt for decades.

Only problem is, if I bought the gun it would be more of a gun safe queen that I probably wouldn't carry. Too big, and .45 ACP is not a caliber I choose to carry with for various reasons.

I told the LGS guys that, and they went on a huge 1 hour rant about the virtues of the high end carry 1911s chambered in 9mm. Remember, I was living in Cali literally 7 months ago, so none of these were options for me so I never even looked into them.

So they brought up the WC EDC 9 and the SA Prodigy. Dan Wesson, Stacatto, etc, I would definitely be open to these guns if they are of similar quality, I just need to do more research on their carry sized guns.

That BUL Armory gun someone posted up earlier looked really nice too. Beautiful!

I'm very keen on the idea of carrying a 1911 in condition 1.

I've got a friend that has a Shadow Systems 920 and a Stacatto if we can hook up at a time you can shoot them both and see if yuou like the stacatto, why spend the money if you don't have to and can find something you really like.

I begrudgingly admit I love my Shadow Systems DR 920. I shoot it well. I shoot my WC much better. Does it shoot $2800 dollars better? Only you can answer that one. I have never held or much less shot a Stacatto so I can offer no input there.

Okay, so Staccato vs Wilson (since people think this is a more fair matchup), would the quality be roughly the same between the brands?

Now we're into a comparison that doesn't make you sound like a lunatic.

WC is the superior product, quality is without a doubt higher. However, the WC is arguably out in the "diminishing returns" category of firearms. Costs much more, but you're not going to get twice the precision or twice the reliability you'd get from a Staccato, maybe you'll get 5% better precision and 20% better reliability (just making up those numbers, obv) even though you've spent 70% more money. That's how it goes when you get near the top.

So it becomes a much more personal decision as opposed to a practical one, although for WC, things like customer service and re-sale value will be better than with the Staccato. No question it's also the sexier choice, having that Ferrari in the garage, so to speak.

The Staccato will save you money and will accept an optic without further milling. If you're into competition, a few upgrades and it'll run like a raped ape, and it's the more versatile platform.

Hmm. I will definitely have to drop this one liner somewhere, sometime, later.

Points taken on the diminishing returns comparison. I do happen to like Ferraris. :shades:

if you are asking me, it is because, even after making the drive down to Staccato and meeting with them directly, the options they had did not work for me. And unless they did a complete retrofit for one build, for one customer, my requirements could not be met. So, after a few conversations, some chatting, a lot of e-mailing, and a metric shit tonne of research, I chose the Bul Armory options.

The 1911 Ultra from Bul Armory looks like the perfect entry into the 1911 carry market.

I do have a Magnum Research 1911c which is made by BUL Armory. I liked well enough to replace the mim parts . It has the bull barrel an is a great shooter.

A couple of YouTube videos below on the Bul SAS II Tac 4.25. One (the second below) compares to the Prodigy. The first video explains, sorta', why I chose the Bul Armory over a Staccato.

Between 15 and 20 minutes for the vids.

And a bonus video on the SAS II Ultralight 3.25

Sorry for the last one. I'm not really a fan of his but, the video is informative enough...
