Politics is just a fucked up mess. Citizens have allowed their rights to be eroded because we suck at voting. Everyone should have made it clear from the formation of our Republic that you **** with our rights and you are gone from politics forever. Abbott is the only one.

    Sure there is.
    1. Don’t cast a vote for either candidate; recorded as no vote
    2. Vote for the Lib or Green candidate
    3. Write in a candidate
If you won't vote for beto he would prefer any of your choices than a vote against him.
Decades ago I had no choice about a war in Asia as I was too young to vote. You have a choice. You get the government, you deserve.

I might cast a vote for Butt Head Beto if he was running for a position as a crash dummy.

Abbot may not be perfect but he is 200% better than the idiot running against him.

Whoever said I was voting for beta? I never did.

I'm nut sure what you're getting at here. You're entitled to vote for whoever you want to, so am I. I spent a career in the all volunteer military and didn't have a choice in any of the 13 combat and combat support deployments I did. None of that was influenced by who I voted for at the state level. Looking back,
    • Clinton sent to OSW four times and Allied Force
    • Bush 43 sent me to Afghanistan twice, Iraq once, the Arabian Gulf once, Africa once, and drafted me to the DoD Support to Secret Service team
    • Obama kept me on the DoD Support to Secret Service team and sent me to Afghanistan once and Africa twice
Of all the administrations I served under, I only voted for one of them; in fact I was in Kuwait on my fourth deployment while Bush v Gore played out and I was just hoping that my federal mail in ballot application had been properly processed by the state of Texas the whole time.

... Sleep well and let everyone else carry the load for you.
Every time I hear this argument, I think about sheep and lemmings and people just following orders. If Hot Wheels was such a rock star , he'd be getting the national exposure DeSantis is getting; instead, he's a yawner who's most likely to still steamroll beta. beta can't really afford to win the election since that will impede his ability to be a professional (losing) candidate who's a good fund raiser for the D party. That's where his bread is buttered, not being in office.

My thought is even if Hot Wheels died before the election, I'd rather vote for a cross-dressing clown than Beto.
There's a LOT more wrong with Beto than just his gun stance. He's a Californian plain and simple.
    ABB = Anybody But Beto
Beto tries to com across as a good guy and everyone's friend, but in truth he's evil.

So we know it is going to be Abbott or Beto, we know you are not voting, the question is which one of the two would you prefer? If you prefer Beto (which I know you don't) vote for him. If you would rather see Abbott over Beto how does not voting do anything? It is completely illogical to not vote when we all know that you don't want Beto. Your chance to make change was in the primary, not the general election. Does one vote count. Maybe when there are enough "one votes" and people are not motivated to vote. This election cycle maybe 20% (a guess) of eligible voters will show up. That's where one vote counts. Sleep well because people that don't vote are the real sheep.

    1. Don’t cast a vote for either candidate; recorded as no vote
    2. Vote for the Lib or Green candidate
    3. Write in a candidate

This mentality worked when the divide between the 2 major parties wasn’t so great. It was my exact thought. Send a message to both parties that they are running crap candidates.

This state and nation as a whole are fighting for their lives. EVERY vote for a nonexistent Lib or Green(crazy) party candidate is going to give us Beto like every vote for Perot gave us Billy boy.

The problems with that mentality as I’ve come to discover are as follows:

    1. Neither party gives a crap about your thoughts on their candidates. They know they have captive audiences, so tough titties if you think you think they will change things based on how many no votes they got. Primaries are where these things are settled for the most part.

    2. The divide between leftist ideology and the other side (can’t call the GOP conservative cause they aren’t) is big enough that a couple of years of imbecile will have a HUGE impact. Look at Joe Biden. 2 years in and the market is breaking all sorts of wrong records. Energy prices soaring. Inflation breaking all sorts of wrong direction records. Another endless and resource draining proxy war that just might push into something else.

4 years of Beto and this state is going to be screwed. Don’t think the legislature is going to be hostile towards him too much. They are all politicians in the end, which generally means self serving twats who will do the political thing before doing the right thing.

Abbot may not be the best at all. He will do the political thing for sure, but he hasn’t actively stated he is going to s tee up this state. Beto has said that exact thing. Defund police, gut the 2A, tax everything that he can…

History will show several elections where a "little vote" did matter. Gore would have been President if a few votes had been different.
But the Florida vote that year was, again, DemoRAT cheating... the only way hanging and dimpled chads were reproduced were by stuffing multiple ballots
