As I learn more about reloading and gather the necessary equipment, I’m coming to realize that this new hobby is going to require a complete garage reconfiguration!

I have some ideas for what my reloading area should look like but I figured the experts on this forum would have much better ideas.

Please post a picture of your reloading setup, I could use the inspiration!

Great idea! I'm sure we can all learn new/better ideas from each other.
Photos to follow tomorrow... if I can remember.

It’s been a little while but I did post a brief intro.. Not much there but some would say that describes me perfectly!

Set it up so your scales won’t be effected by airflow from your HVAC system.

Do a search & you will find a thread about this.
I think there are at least a half-dozen such threads, not counting the many times more general reloading threads have drifted to this topic.

That said, OP, I think it's best to start your planning with the classic reloading bench that all us oldsters promised ourselves we'd build one day. The concepts there are mostly still valid with one exception, the need to bring a balance beam scale up to eye level. With digital readouts on modern equipment, this may not strike you as relevant. Otherwise, though, the basic ideas in those plans remain worthwhile.

Hope that this is a "2-fer". If you get serious (read: crazy) about reloading, you'll be looking for components. If you haven't already, I suggest you join the Discord reloading server. It has channels for in-stock notifications and specific reloading topics. Then, and to your original post, it ALSO has a channel for pictures of reloading benches where you can browse pictures of hundreds of benches.

    Hope this is useful...

Appreciate you posting those plans. I was envisioning something very similar to that bench! This may be a little personal but do most people sit or stand when reloading?!

As always, greatly appreciate the advice! I’ll check out the discord loading server you mentioned!

I’m already thinking about all the things I’ll need in the future and I’ve yet to load a round!

I sit when reloading. I've got a workbench about 6' long on the back wall of my Man Cave that I use for reloading and an office chair I can roll back and forth. Just remember to make it stout and anchor it to a wall and maybe use 45 degree braces back to the floor/wall to make it "stouter". Legs holding the front of the bench straight down to the floor might get in the way of rolling back and forth.

Not personal at all. I stand. I may be a bit weird, though. I'll stand in my living room for hours just watching TV. Seems normal to me but other folks tell me it's not. I dunno one way or the other.

    :)

Depends on process. I sit for steps like trimming/priming/charging, but prefer to stand for all press activities. Set up my benches for standing height, but can sit using a bar-stool.
