No diferent the the H&K P7A1with it's 4.6 mm x 30 ammunition.
That was Melvin Johnson with his 5.7 Spitfire carbine the very first PDW, that never was.Well it killed any chance for the far superior .30 carbine to make a comeback.
5.7 spitfire never made it past the wildcat stage, which is a shame because it's a great cartridge, and the best of all the various necked down .30 carbine cartridges out thereThat was Melvin Johnson with his 5.7 Spitfire carbine the very first PDW, that never was.
Well you can't get it because 5.7x28 won't even scratch a SAPI plate at 10 yards, much less 200.Defeating sapi plates at 200 yards with proper ammo.
Which we can't get.
Well it killed any chance for the far superior .30 carbine to make a comeback.
Thats what everyone says they want, but no one will buy.You misspelled 7.62x25......
5.7x28 ss190 out of a 10 inch, iirc, barrel will Penetrate esapi plates at 200 yards. Level 3 plates I believe.Well you can't get it because 5.7x28 won't even scratch a SAPI plate at 10 yards, much less 200.
Level III is rifle rated, IE, .308 M80 ball.5.7x28 ss190 out of a 10 inch, iirc, barrel will Penetrate esapi plates at 200 yards. Level 3 plates I believe.
The non ap stuff we can get won't. Which is why my qualifier of ammo ww can't get.
The whole point of the 5.7 and p90 was developed to penetrate such armor at 200 yards with the ss190 ammo.
Without it it is a hot 22 mag load. Kinda.
You just described about 75% of all cartridges in existence and 99.9% of those to come.So as a niche cartridge with little use in the real world that isn't already covered by others, it's great. It's still expensive and rare, true?
Evewryone I knew who fought in Korea thought the .30 carbine round was worthless.Well it killed any chance for the far superior .30 carbine to make a comeback.
