You might br able to adjust those settings with AlfaOBD.
This “feature” almost pitched my wife out onto the ice during the most recent storm. She was moving the truck from under a tree while the camera and mirrors were iced. To say she was surprised and pissed would be an understatement.

CANbus is great, if you know how to tweak it. There are so many after-market things out there...

Worse, with JEEPS, also made by Fiat-Chrysler, there are way too many gimmicky items to pose potential disabling failures when in isolated areas.

Some, like stop/start ‘’technology’’, sequential ignition lock, & refusal to move with an open door are extremely inappropriate for an OFF-ROAD vehicle.

How much of this was ‘’mandated’’ by the Congress ?

Depends on what's broken, but probably less than $100 if you fix it yourself.

Yeah, part of the problem is dealership techs don't actually fix anything. They'll say you have to replace the whole infotainment system when it's probably a five dollar component inside it that's bad.

    Exactly !

    I run several 4WD vehicles, including 2001 & 2023 JEEPS.

Often my problems are a complete mystery to the dealer’s ‘’mechanical technicians’’; but my ‘’shade-tree’’ JEEP Expert can diagnose with a glance and fix for a tiny amount compared to the dealer.

Fiat Chrysler vehicles gather a surprising amount of data and transmit it.

    • Geolocation data: in providing the Connected Services, we collect location information, including your Vehicle’s GPS location, as well as your mobile device’s location information with your consent. If Connected Services are enabled, geolocation data is transmitted from your Vehicle to FCA, and in some cases, to third parties in order to enable certain Connected Services. If you use Connected Services, such as our mobile apps or in-vehicle apps, geolocation may also be collected through these apps. Please see Rights and Choices below for information regarding your choices with regard to the collection of geolocation data.

    • Driving data: we collect driving data about your Vehicle, such as dates and times of use; speed, acceleration and braking data; direction of travel; trip data (e.g., mileage, date, time, weather conditions, location, route taken); ignition events; steering events; cruise control data; seatbelt status; information about Vehicle incidents or events; other information about how you drive a Vehicle; and associated date/time stamps for such information.

    • Vehicle, usage and performance: we retrieve and collect Covered Data related to your Vehicle’s performance and usage, as well as diagnostic and service-related data. This includes information such as odometer, mileage, MPG, and emissions data; trouble or error codes, and other diagnostic data; service and maintenance history; engine performance; tire pressure data; weather, temperature and other driving conditions; fuel levels and refueling activity; battery levels and status; images from cameras; other performance, mechanical and operational data; Vehicle settings, commands and presets, points of interest, and other information about your use of certain features; and associated date/time stamps for such information.

    • Biometric data: if you enroll in certain services, we may collect and process biometrics (e.g., fingerprint or facial recognition) as part of certain features and services, such as digital key and other vehicle services that enable your access using your biometric access credentials, subject to applicable laws.

This link provides info on how to have remote connect disabled (which can only be done via a phone call,) and how to request copis of the data they have gathered, opt out of data sharing, and have all data deleted.

I am pretty sure my 2006 Ram is not talking to the mother ship. Not even through my phone, since I prefer to leave that POS in a drawer.

Newer cars and trucks all do and I am not sure if there is anything you can do to prevent it short of buying a butt load of Reynolds Wrap and making a pickup sized tin foil hat.

I am not even sure that my wife's 2022 Tundra (4WD iPad) would start without an internet connection!

We have proved the government and auto makes that we have grow too stupid to operate autos without their help and government oversite.

Since finding this they need to supervise and surveil us and all our activities to ensure our safety.

Uncle Sam will provide for us.

Some of the computerized “safety features” on my new JEEP actually appear DANGEROUS to me.
