Turns your standard glock into an SBR. Wondered if anyone has played with one. The rep came and showed me one in my office today and I was intrigued.

I am waiting to hear more. They look cool as HELL and I hope they live up to the hype. My brother plans on buying one soon for his Sig and I am waiting to see how it works for him.

Yes, I have seen the videos and got to fondle one at length today. They look and feel like they are put together very well. I was looking for anyone with some experience with one.
I am thinking one is going to find its way into my possession very soon.

so from what I am reading....once you put a Glock in this thing it makes it an SBR(the actual Glcok itself) ? You can no longer use your pistol as a pistol, because you have made it an SBR? Could they make this shit any more confusing?

I dont want to dedicate a Glock to being an SBR full time, so I guess I will pass.

Possessing the parts (this stock setup and a compatible GLOCK) and having the "ability" to put a SBR together is enough to at least arrest you as far as the ATF is concerned. Basically if you already own a GLOCK you would need to get a tax stamp for the GLOCK before buyin this stock and having possession of it to stay well clear of the law. Yeah confusing as hell.

They have models for a Sig 226 and an XD9. Cool as hell.
The NFA issues seem a little murky for the SBR. Stamp for the pistol and the assembly? One or the other?

No, you're not up to speed. You can SBR an AR, and change the upper for a 16" and at that point - even though the lower is registered as an SBR - it's not an SBR.

With this system, the Glock would be federally registered as the SBR, so you could remove it as you like and use it as a pistol. Here in Texas "rifles" (which it would legally be) aren't subject to restrictive laws (IOW, legally, if you SBR'd a Glock, you'd not need a CHL to carry it under your clothes, since "legally", it'd be a "rifle").

Now, you would be sacrificing a Glock if you went with the 16" model. Once it's turned into a rifle, it can't legally resume use of the original barrel again w/o NFA paperwork as an SBR.

Why would you need two stamps?

One stamp for the "manufacturing", the Glock gets marked in accordance with the law (the majority of the "manufacturing") and you can swap back and forth from then on.

It does look pretty cool. I was just curious if there was some specific application or niche it fit I couldn't think of.

If the ATF junk wasn't such a big deal I could see getting a 10mm for camping. Hike with the pistol on you, then pull out the carbine attachment if you're hunting or something. Maybe save some weight vs carrying another rifle? The only downside is that there's so few places where you can hike AND shoot around here.

It seems to be a lot more complicated than the MechTech system, but with same legal ambiguities. Both manufacturers leave out all the pertinent information that would cause you pause when purchasing. Buyer beware, just because they tell you how easy it's to change back and forth, they don't tell you for the most part it is illegal to do so. (Only 1 TC combination package currently has BATF approval for that.)

I was shown one of these over at Houston armory (I think that is what it's called, where Sean Cody used to office.). They were telling me how easy it was to operate and assemble, then got stuck and could not get the dang thing together. Had to wait for "the other guy" who knows this thing. I even fiddled with it for a few minutes and gave up trying to fix it.

Not as simple mechanically as they want you to think, and you they don't tell you about the legal minefield you are walking in. If they did, fewer people would buy them.
