Took the Garand out again yesterday. 1st time out was a mixed bag. 5 moa at 100 yards and occasional short stroke or dead primer. Was using some 1957 surplus. Yesterday I used some 1970s Lake City. 2 Moa at 100 using iron sights and had no problem hitting a 6 inch plate at 200 yards with easy repeatability. All my issues were just crap ammo. Took it home and did a full disassemble and re grease. It's slicker than owl shit now. The action must be moving faster, because I got my first Garand thumb afterwards.

    Ouch.
Have some surplus I've been saving and shooting my newer commercial rounds, maybe I'm doing it backwards after reading this more and more often.

Being slick is not the issue. The bolt was not locked all the way back. Garand thumb happens when the bolt is resting on the follower.

I always thought Garand Thumb happed the same way you shank a golf ball, or dropped a high fly ball. You looked it off.

It was locked all the way back, but I was sticking my thumb deep down into the magwell so the bolt would release from being locked. Forgot to hold the charging handle back with the side of my hand.

I'm approaching 3 months with zero trigger time. I guess that's the cost of starting my own mobile auto repair business. On the plus side, there's a good chance I match last year's salary during my first year in. I'll be saving my pennies to put some quality glass on a Tikka tac3x. With the weather coming around I think a plinking trip is in order soon.

Due to a hand injury in January (while rebuilding my motorcycle engine), I cannot shoot right now and have not shot since January.
However, at least I get my fix when I go with students and watch them shoot.
Last one was an older lady who went from 8" grouping left and low to a nice more manageable 2 inches in the bullseye. (B-27 @ 7yds)
If that doesn't make you feel good, I am not sure what will.

I can't wait to go shoot by myself. Doctor says in a few months. NOT happy.
Post some pictures to make me feel good, pretty pretty please.

Offhand, man! This is the perfect time to practice your offhand shooting!
