not bad. some think it's overpriced. read up on the different kinds/brands to see if it's the one for you. I'm a 'frugal' folk [po] so...

I am noting that a strip from an old COTTON T-shirt makes a better, long lasting wick...

    Does the brand really matter

I have a few. Brands can kind of matter, but not much. I bought some cheap Red Camp or something brass knock offs and had some titanium ones. Used them in the military as they burn dull/tactile vs a true open flame.

Lots of fuel options from yellow bottlers of Deet sold at most gas stations in America, to 90% rubbing alcohol sold at most Walmart’s in America, white fuel/ethanol. Don’t plan to cook a meal with one, but 8-16oz of hot liquid or something small can be cooked on them.

I like them and folding wood burning stoves that burn of biomass leaves, trees, etc. but you get smoke, flames and slower cook time, however fuel tends to be easy to find or make.

Have scratch made a ton of them with tuna fish cans. There is no heat control so they work best to heat water. Fun projects, especially to make with your kids since they may not know the things that can be done with a churchkey.

I have a wood burning and 3 tablet burning (large, medium & small) stoves

I try to use what I have at the time and place I'm at, i.e. If no wood can be found I use the tablet stove, but they aren't safe for indoor use as is the wood burner, so I'm looking for something I can use indoor or enclosed area

I'm new to alcohol stoves, so I will have to learn how to use one

I have some Coleman duel fuel stoves and lantern I know are rated for indoors and a duel fuel propane/butane burner stove. I have used my alcohol stove indoors, but more for just messing around in my more ventilated living room than a tent, cabin, or vehicle.

After some research and thought, I'm going to use the Primus classic trail gas stove (NIB) I found in storage instead of a alcohol stove.

The fuel will last longer when I need something for a semi enclosed area

8oz of alcohol would give 8-10 boils, where I can get 55 boils out of one gas cylinder

Just need to figure out how to carry the gas cylinder(s)
