I purchased a new Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS, so I chose the Holosun SCS for the perfect fit without using a mounting plate. I installed it yesterday and played with it a bit to check the different brightness, the 3 reticle settings, etc. It mounted easily, fits perfectly and seems to work very well. I set it on a flat surface and kept checking it to see if the reticle would turn off, because it is supposed to auto-off and shake awake. The problem is, it never turned off. I left it sitting an looked at it this morning, and the reticle was still on. I didn't touch it, it hasn't moved, it sat still on a flat surface all night and never turned off.

Is it broken, or does it just not ever turn off, since it is always charging from the light? If I remove the presence of light, will it auto-off to save the charge?

If I remember reading right, the auto-on feature is supposed to be hyper sensitive. Basically meaning, any movement at all will turn it on. Whether it be you picking to up/drawing from the holster, or a foot stomp, or a table bump, it will light up.

It's pretty clear. I can see the front sight clearly through the glass at dusk.
How is the target acquisition with it vs any other red dots you have tried? I am looking at some steiner/sig units right now and my biggest thing is the reticle used, I seem to have a hard time with chunky solid dots due to astigmatism

Im interested in your findings. I was planning on throwing the SCS on a G20 MOS for a backwoods self defense gun.
Well my main issue is that for some targets due to the tint of the lens under overcast conditions it makes it difficult for me to tell which parts I am aiming for but that is probably also practice. However weight is another concern, I am not fond of slide mounted optics as such and prefer a floating rail. That however means I have a heavier gun which is fine for short rounds but isn't ideal for long time at the range since I get shaky. Decisions decisions.

My experience with pistol optics are fairly limited, I’m only just looking into them. Do you have a fair bit of experience with pistol optics, and this is an isolated issue, or are you fairly new to them as well?

I have experience with red dots but very limited on pistols. I have shot some Glocks ans Sigs with a slide mounted optic and I found re-engagement difficult. When I ran the same red dots on a float rail I had better luck.but like I said I think my astigmatism plays a crucial role here in terms of my discomfort.

I have a Glock 19 gen 5 and have been eyeing these sights. Probably picking one up this weekend.

The scs will co-witness with stock factory sights on glocks, no adapter plate necessary.

I do not own one of these but after reading about them and watching some YT videos, I am really impressed. It looks like a 19 MOS is in my future.
Also, it does not appear to have a shake awake feature, instead I has the auto brightening which I guess means it is always on. But the batter life is supposed to be crazy long.
