    I think so.

Basic tactics for winning hearts and minds involve acknowledging the other side has a point.

It's not a big point. It's statistically insignificant in these cases. But without acknowledging it, we come across as mean people who refuse to let mercy and charity into our hearts.

We become easy to hate. Real exchanges of truth from one person, party, religion, etc. to another cease. Both sides devolve into an "us v them" mindset that makes violence possible.

Far better to be able to honestly say "You have a valid point but please help me understand why you're dealing with it the way you are."

The failure of the other side to justify the unjustifiable then creates a crack in their facade that might let in a little truth.

Of course, sometimes people need to be shot. This was one of those times.

Most times, though, it's more productive to talk. I hate seeing that talk killed before it's begun...which is what happens when we just say "The other side is pure evil. **** 'em."

Difficult to do when the fanatical left fringe not only refuses to admit we can have a point to discuss, but actively denies that we're even human beings to be reasoned with. The average dem voter, sure, you can probably attempt a discussion with them. I've done it a few times. But the "trans rights or else" crowd and the Everytown crowd are a bunch of zealots.

Not to hijack the thread but the tinfoil hat bunch is now stewing about the change in shoes for the shooter between the first video footage when the door was shot out and entry made vs the dead shooter pic taken by LEO. Theory is why is shooter wearing Pumas as they entered building and then the corpse is wearing flame Vans.

I'm absolutely on board with the idea of "sure, some people really are born with the opposite gender body", and when they realize it, they should get all the help they need.

But what's going on right now is "being non binary gender is totes chic, I wanna play too, and you must too, and if not, you're literally satan"
Is it as simple as they woke up one day and realized they were in the wrong body, or were they groomed into believing that?

How much has the advent of social media played a part? Do you ever feel gratification when a large group of people 'like' your comments and actions?

Myself, this is the only website I interact with. I have deleted the others, and I only use Facebook for family. Especially now that I see how badly it effects my student's attention, this has become more of a pastime for me.

That's exactly what I mean. Some, like 0.018% of the population are genuinely in the wrong body, and the rest that are acting up because it's the style of the decade.

Even if you ignore the colors. The width of the stripe is different. The Van's logo can bee seen so they’re not pumas arguments is bunk. Vans makes a flame shoe too.

    First shoe.

We’re in lead a horse to water land on that topic, so let them start acknowledging that.

I must sadly admit that y'all are probably right. Now. But sometime in the future, the USA must either devolve in spilled blood or find a way to reconcile all the involved parties. Or, at least reconcile enough that we can all stand living on the same continent at the same time.

It seems like everyone on this board can say in one line things that take me half a page. :)

Three children and three adults are murdered and some of y'all are arguing about shoes.

This is showing how easy it is to get people talking about inconsequential items instead of the main subject of this thread.

I think you're missing the point. If the shoes did change, something bigger is going on. What? I can't tell ya, but it's weird, and it happened.

Bit of a false assumption here. The only alternatives are not either "discuss every possible situation no matter how minute and insignificant" or "I hate 'em all".

Christ taught us to have compassion for the person, but not to condone the sin. The former does not require addressing every possible condition, no matter how insignificant. And the latter does not mean we hate the person.

I get it, and if that was the narratives going around, I'd offer my condolences, as I have in my heart, and be done with it. The point is, it's not not the only narrative.

I'm not missing the point. If you look real close at the photos, you will see that the 1st one has the pants culls down to the top of the shoes sole and the 2nd photo shoes the cuffs pulled up well above the soles.
