Yeah - bent the truck last month, so the past 5-6 weeks have been trying to get the adjuster over to appraise the vehicle (they say it isn't totaled...but 2-4 months to fix it - so I opted to buy a new one and sell the other once it's repaired. Took 3 weeks to locate what I wanted - 1-ton dually, 6.4 gas engine, 4X4 Crew Cab cab chassis. They're surprisingly hard to find at anything above a base "Tradesman" truck. Didn't want a lot of options, just snowplow prep package for the heavier-sprung front end and a mid-level radio so I had carplay so I could interface w/the phone for the maps and such. With taxes about 61k - and a flight to Oklahoma to get the only one I could locate in a 4-state area. Another $14K for the service body.....$6K dor the lift...and $2K or so to have it wrapped.
I'll post a few pics this weekend - it's a work in progress, just got the service body installed today.

Should've asked us first. I would've gladly sold you my truck for $79,999.50.

Do a cost/benefit on operating a gas vs diesel engine that doesn't routinely pull trailers. I was responsible for fleet operations in my previous "day jobs". It took me 15 years to convince the owner of my last job that gas engines made more sense in our service trucks - as well as NOT servicing the auto transmission. We went from an average of 60k miles on a tranny to over 100k, and the "per mile" operating cost of gas vs diesel was about 20% lower, all told. And that was BEFORE DEF came into the picture. It's even worse now.

Looks like it'll get some work done.

I'd like to hear about the decision to buy a gasser and also about the bent truck.
I was happy see someone else is not a fan of diesels. Initial cost, maintenance, fuel over all costs are higher then gassers. Diesels last longer on average but that comes at a cost to get there.

I definitely agree. I am on my second diesel truck and while I do love them, they are expensive. I pull a 30’ fifth wheel so it makes sense for me.

Enjoy your rig…I do like the Rams, but keep an eye on that transmission.

Yessir, you're kinda stuck w/diesel. I've not lost a tranny yet on a Ram - we'll see if my luck holds. At least the timing was good on this one.....had to borrow on the truck, but the service body, lift gate and tank racking are all being cash flowed. Once the dust settles down, it looks like I'll have about $20k to drop onto the truck principle, and the old unit should sell for about $40K once repaired - and by that time, I'll have enough paid against the note to just pay it off.
