Can you please expand on the clearing of the gun being prevented by the grip safety? I am confused. The grip safety prevents firing of the gun, it has nothing to do with the slide.

FWIW, when a gun breaks, it is broken and thus an expectation of it functioning properly goes out the window. Doesn't matter what brand a gun is, if it breaks, it is broken.
The grip safety locks the slide.

The S&W EZ, the 1911, even the swiss lugers have grip safeties that do not interact with the slide.

When a gun breaks, it shouldn't break in a way that prevents you from rendering the gun safe. I've seen 2 XD's fail in this manner. It is inexcusable

A glock has like 34 parts and is extremely simple.

No matter how you manage to break a glock, you aren't going to break it to the point where you have to ship a loaded gun back to glock.

the glock has been around far longer than the XD and is actually used by many militaries around the world.

It is my observation that non-shooters that pickup a XDm off of a table filled with similar striker fired pistols is not as accurate or consistent with the resulting targets as a Walther PPQ or a HK VP9. Are they still an effective personal defense weapon? Absolutely.

The accuracy from a bulls eye is my only frame of reference. Still a very effective weapon!

Several defense contracting companies issued their guys XD's working in Iraq 2004-2010 (those were the years I spent time over there). Supposedly they had a number of jamming problems with the gun operating out in the desert; Don't really remember all that much, but pretty sure Triple Canopy was one of the companies that issued the guns. Think one of the major problems was the sand/powder clogging up in/around the grip safety. I didn't work with the affected companies, our contractors all issued the G17 or G19 - at least best I can remember.

Now this is some good info, I’ll definitely look into that.

There are two people in the world...those who are smart enough to own a XD (or several), and those who aren't, and own Glocks!

And since we're spreading myths and other lies, here's some truth for everyone...the XD came out on top of the SAPD competition to find a new handgun; but S&W simply offered them too great a deal to pass up!

If you actually find something about that (which I doubt), I'd be interested in seeing it...

I suspect it's just more propaganda from the Glock bios to smear a handgun that is superior to the brick they carry!

Also, for those who make a deal about the XD coming from Croatia, where did your beloved Glock originate?!?

I’ve had the basic 4 inch XD 9 mm for about 10 years now with maybe..three thousand rounds through it, no upgrades and just standard cleaning after use.

Not a single malfunction ever with a few different types of ammo ran through it. Decent shooter, solid, reliable..why doesnt the XD line get the love that lets say the Glock19 might? Im not aware of any mil/LE contracts for them either..kind of surprising. I still have the XD next to my bed at night, its just the one i trust most at this point to go bang when I need it to (and yes I own glocks) any thoughts?
I bought the 1st XDm in 9mm that I saw in a gun store well over 10 years ago. I really wanted it to be the "Glock killer " it was touted as.
The XD is the child of the HS-2000 that was imported from Croatia in the 90s to the US and sold for about $299

Springfield saw the opportunity to buy the factory and make a pistol to compete with Glock

The XDm just didn't point well for me..I never took a liking to it so it found a new home and I continued with my Glock collection..I'm up to about 9 now..

So that's my story..and my take on it..if it were a superior pistol, it might have had a better chance

I’ve been looking and haven’t found anything. Doesn’t mean it isnt true..but not able to find anything. I might need to reach out to some of the guys I knew contacting and see if they have heard anything about that.

the XD sucks and people who buy them are too much of a sissy to buy a DA/SA automatic or a glock
I have several XD pistols as well as DA/SA and glock pistols. None of these pistols has had a malfunction.
Several times I've taken my G27 and XDSC to the range and shot them together with very similar performance

a country that didnt need nato help because they were getting curbstompped by the serbs.
also I carry a CZ, I have no dogs in the glock vs ecks dee debate I just think the XD sucks and I know it sucks.

Observe how many countries use the glock in comparison to the croat shitbox (the XD, which IS the HS2000) that costs less and is less reliable.
