Speaking of presses I am looking for a progressive press to start pumping out the .223 I have two rock chucker's that I use for .308win mostly now.. I do alot of .223 vmax/sp/fmj on it too but it takes forever even with two ..

So if anyone knows of a Dillon laying around let me know, I might be interested in other brands I have just used Dillon before and they seem to be great once they are setup correctly.

Also actively looking for small rifle primers in Austin in Bulk as well as powder :)

Also just for the nature of the thread what type of media/polish are you guys using?

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

I throw some cases in my father's tumbler every once in a while, and I think he uses some manner of corncob media. Sportsmans Warehouse in Pflugerville has Winchester, CCI and I think Remington primers in stock most of the time.

I've been thinking of getting a progressive press for .223 and my pistol calibers, but I'm probably just going to buy a cheapy Lee.

    Phatcyc.

Dillion 550b for $350 new you can get their progressive and choose one kit.. at that price.. the kit consists of the plate for all dies.. sizer, seater, crimper, and a powder.

These are fast.. there are a few accessories to that make it a really great kit..

I am trying to put money towards other things right now.. thats why i am looking for a used one..

I guess 350 is a lot of cash though...

I use the Dillon 550 for pistol cartrigdes, but use the Lee hand press for all rifle loads. You are right, .223 takes a long time to load for. I haven't tried it with the Dillon b/c you still have to lube the cases regardless of using a carbide sizing die. Dillon does have the best customer service around...I broke the lever handle off on mine(not knowing you are supposed to lube it from time to time) and they replaced it for free. Anytime I have a reloading question, I call them up and they always have a good answer for me that doesn't even have to do with Dillon stuff.

I use the Frankfort Arsenal tumbler with their polish, and walnut media.

I have a Dillon SQDB that is great except it won't reload rifle. I have had this for at least 12 years and I bought it used. I must have broken every part on since I've had it. But Dillon stands behind it, "what did you break?" "we'll send you a new one". If I could, I would get the XL650.

Hornady is tossing in 1000 rounds with their LNL-AP

The Hornady LNL-AP is the press I'm going to order. I've looked at them and they look great all setup, and they're pretty easy to use and fast once you get the hang of it. My plan is to buy a press and not have to buy another one (ever). Kind of pricey though.

There is a new version of the LNL AP progressive coming out for Jan 09. Different ejector system and shell plates. All the presses in current retail inventory are out of date, which is why you might be able to find good deals..

    Just sayin'...

I might wait till January and see about the new version of the LNL AP. I want the latest and greatest LOL. Now if it would only load by itself while I'm at work.

I went ahead and ordered one. Should arrive Monday. Even if I pay for the refit next year I should still be ahead with the bullet deal and live.com rebate

I'm thinking about breaking into my savings account and buying one now, so I can get started reloading, I've got a lot of empty brass lying around just begging to be reloaded.
