I was talking with a friend (also a gun guy) about the feeding frenzy that is gun sales of late.

My thought is a bunch of the guns people are buying while caught up in the current "gotta have an AR or high cap pistol" craze ---are going to come up for sale in a few months, softening the market and making for some great deals on very lightly used weapons.

His thought is the frenzy will continue for some time ---possible for the next 2 to 4 years and/or the dems will in quick fashion make it harder to get guns, ammo, parts and that will keep prices/demand high.

in the words of Bill O'Reily ----what say you?

That isn't a bad conjecture, but that's really all we can do right now is conjecture.

If BHO lets the reins go of the Brady nuts then people aren't going to be selling off all of these ARs and high caps they bought. I would submit to you that it is not a big IF at all, looking at his record in Illinois. That is ALL we have to look at of his voting record, and the things he has said that were anti-gun this very year.

It isn't fun to conjecture about this stuff. BHO is ALL myth and that is what's so scary about the guy.

    I'd say

Guns are a good investment right now.

We may not be able to buy any more guns with the incoming administration.

Tx might want to think about becoming a Republic once again.

    Texas of course

True...but we might not be able to sell them either. I could see them making all private firearms sales becoming illegal, making all sales go through FFLs. :(

ST5MF, I second the motion on the Republic. The time may actually have come for it.

No, it's unlikely Texas will do an about face. However, the federal gub'ment can make firearm ownership is pain in the royal ass. They can effectively put gun dealers out of business. They can stifle import of guns and gun parts. They can tax ammo to the point that it's only affordable by the rich. ETC!

Glenn Beck had a map a few days ago of the country, broken into six autonomous regions .. Texas was the only state to stand by itself, the rest were just absorbed into the two coasts, Canada etc. Sucession sounding better every day

I think one thing people are overlooking is that the AWBII is in committee right now. right now.
I have read it as it stands..right now. Yes, private sales will be abolished.
As for the AR's they will be listed this go round. Yep... 10 round mags.
I read the bill on gov.tracker.org
This bill could be ready for Obama to sign the day he is inaugurated.
No, TX wont do an about face on gun laws, but ... uhhh,...federal law trumps state law. Dont thnk we were in favor of the last AWB either. Make no mistake...
Yes... there is a socialist govt. in place.
    Yes individual rights will suffer.

That map was a parody on the Russian that said America will break up into 6 autonomous regions.

I haven't found one Texan that does not want to be a Republic again. R.O.T.!

    you have now....
not trying to start an argument, but you should really examine the ramifications of that view before deciding that we would be better off as seperate nation. While control of our country by crooked Washington politicians sucks, a ROT would present a whole new set of equally huge problems... :patriot:

The bill will have to start over at the end of this session. I don't make a habit out of postulating what politicians will or won't do, especially when they gather in large herds, but I don't think the current AWB draft in committee will be the next one we see. This one is just too extreme. They like to take our civil liberties in small chunks.

Hopefully our President Elect will have his hands full with other issues for a while.

The difference now is that the anti's have actual precedence for doing what they are doing. It's not right but, they can easily fool people into believing that an AWB falls inline with the "dangerous and unusual weapons" clause built into the Heller ruling by the Supreme Court. The difference NOW is that the SC has stated this is okay. It doesn't take much of a stretch of the imagination to see how this can be easily "justified" by the Heller ruling. Notice the media blitz about "assault weapons" lately? Notice the fear mongering of all the horrible problems our "assault weapons" are causing for law enforcement in Mexico? These people are not letting up. At the least, ALL of us should be pretty paranoid about the near future as I can see this actually passing in 2009 sometime.

They will have to get alot of work done on it between now and January 20. Every bill that does not make it out of congress before the 20th will expire and will have to be reintroduced. And if it is finished before the 20th Bush could either:
    A. Sign it.
    B. Veto it knowing there is no time to get the 2/3 votes to pass it
    C. Pocket Veto it
The current bill in congress is going no where fast and a new bill will have to be reintroduced come the next session.
