Yes, I’m looking for a heated CAT house!

I am giving sanctuary to an adult, neutered, unwanted cat that was on his way to the shelter - and almost certain euthanization. He will have the run of the place and I’ll feed him and provide the necessities for the time he has left.

Since he will be outside all the time, I need recommendations for a heated shelter as winter approaches. A quick look at Amazon yielded options from about $75 to Holy Crap$$!

Most seem to operate on the principle of a heating pad activated by the weight of the cat.

Anybody have and real-life experience with any particular brand or model?

    Thanks in advance.

We use the cheap aluminum clamp-on fixtures with heat lamps. They're clamped on the porch window sill at an inside (outside) corner and the cats pile up under them.

A word about adopted stray cats; my dear mother started feeding one, the high water mark for the colony was 26, they're down to around 15-16 now.
Capture it and spay/neuter while it's still a manageable number.
    Just a suggestion

Cats have plenty of factory installed insulation.

If you just do a shelter with a cat bed and a thick towel your cat will be fine.

Your neighborhood birds not so much.

Why will he be living outside as an invasive species?

I am extremely allergic to cats. If he chooses to stick around, he will be well-fed and cared for, but he will be outside.

All he really needs is a good windbreak and some soft fabric (old blankets maybe) to snuggle down in. And yeah, if it can be off the ground a bit that'll keep bugs and moisture to a minimum. Make his space small and cozy and he'll self-heat it pretty quickly.

Well, the cat is still hanging around. I’ve made it a safe, cozy area in a corner of the patio.

I’m surprised at the response from some. I’m not a “cat” person but would never be intentionally cruel to any of God’s creatures.

As long as this critter chooses to hang around, that’s fine by me. Should it become destructive or make itself a problem- well, that’s another story.
