Y'all have any issues? I was thinking about people shying away from guns because of it, but I honestly don't think about it anymore. When I first started shooting a lot, mitchinTx(RIP) handed me a .44 mag. Oh - I felt that - loved it. Bought a couple of .44 mag revolvers since. Worst one for me was a .500 mag shooting a trash can load - 700g or something - hurt my wrist for a week. I was probably gripping it too hard, and not letting it recoil naturally. Never got the hang of birds-head revolvers...

Rifles - I shoot a lot of intermediate cartridges - .223, 6.5 Grendel's, 7.62x39, there's a different jump up from those to what I'd call "full power" cartridges. Shooting a .308, etc. (7.5x55 Swiss with a steel butt plate is fun) doesn't bother me anymore I suppose because i'm used to it.

Thoughts? When I take newbs to the range, I bring a heavy barreled & stocked .223, it's like shooting a .22 lr, but more impressive.

No longer interested in shooting a 50bmg.

My main deer rifle is a REM 700 BDL in 30-06, which is a notorious kicker.

458 SOCOM is fun to shoot.

44 mag Blackhawk was/is my first pistol.

    6,5 Swiss brings a hammer.

    7.62 x 54R lets you know he’s there.

I tend to rarely shoot heavy recoil stuff these days. 224 Valkyrie is a joy. My custom 6.5 CM ARhas very little recoil. (Thanks Black Dirt Rifle Co)

So I’m the most recoil sensitive I’ve ever been. But I suppose it’s a different standard for each of us. (Love the 458 SOCOM)

Depends on the type of shooting I suppose. Shooting off a bench I am more recoil sensitive than shooting off hand. I don't mind shooting full power 45-70 loads off hand, but sighting in an optic off the bench I am much more cautious of recoil. As for handguns, my comfort level is in the full power 357 mag/ 10mm range. I can handle more, but also recoil starts to play mind tricks with me after a few shots and my accuracy degrades quickly.

I've turned my recoil sensitivity way down. In truth it's just wasted energy for target shooting or killing animals. The kickers that got me started on the decent were full power 45 colt loads from a 4 5/8" Blackhawk,
Full power 44 mag from same type.of platform but 7".

IMHO... the 50 bmg is really not a problem with the right muzzle brake. The one I had (and since have sold) had a 8 vent brake. Recoil was about what one would expect from a 12ga.
The 50-140 Sharps does not have a brake... even with BP loads, 10 full charge rounds is enough for me at one sitting.

Handguns I stop at the ol, 357. Arthritis I. The thumb and wrist let me know it is time to stop for the day. The .450 bushmaster in an AR lets you know you shot it. Bench shooting I feel recoil, never feel recoil shooting at game. .300 Weatherby; .257 Weatherby and .308 mostly for hunting. Guess it is the adrenaline

Ooooh - I forgot about that one. A member on here let me shoot that round in a short barreled scout(?) Mosin offhand. Damn that thing was harsh. I've never noticed recoil when I shot .50 BMG. I was just so fired up to shoot it, I didn't think about it.

For me, it's more about the type of recoil than the amount. I tend to prefer shooing .45ACP and .38Spl guns because the recoil is more of a strong, slower shove than the snappiness of the 9mm and .357Mag.

Thanks to my range's rental guns, I'm starting to appreciate the 5.56/.223 rifles over my old .303Brit ones. Now I'm deciding what to add to my collection....an AR 16" carbine or a Ruger Predator.

I probably won't get another 44mag. I used to have a Ruger Vaquero that was brutal with 44mag. It was pleasant to shoot with cowboy action 44spl but those were expensive. Today I don't mind shooting full power 357mag out of my 2 N-frame Smiths but won't shoot 357mag out of a snubby.

I'm probably not going to buy anything more powerful than .308 or 30-06 because that's the maximum that I'm comfortable with. My M1A and M1 Garand get uncomfortable to shoot after awhile.

Never bothered me so far. Enjoy shooting the big calibers.

Maybe one day my hands, wrists or shoulders will start t complain about recoil. Until then, I will enjoy.

Some folks are sensitive to it. Some have physical issues that make it a problem.

I don't like recoil, because I like flat shooting guns. Handgun shooting isn't my strong suit as is, I don't need to handicap myself by adding unnecessary recoil / muzzle flip.

In rifles, I don't mind it as much depending on what the rifle is for. TEOTWAWKI gimme something moderate and flat shooting, since I might have to shoot a lot. Hunting gun where I'm taking *one* shot, maybe two, I don't mind more thump. Fun gun that might take a couple shots then get put away? Ok, maybe. Long plinking session? Gimme the .22.

That said - one of my favorite rifles to shoot still is the HK91 / G3 type roller delayed .308, which are not known to be gentle rifles. A gentleman on another board I used to frequent had a genuine G3 with the fun switch and posted a video of him ripping a mag thru it - the recoil caused the lenses in his shooting glasses to fall out.

I'm good for about half a dozen shots thru a Mosin before I've had enough these days. I get kicked enough in karate class, don't really need to get smashed by a steel butt plate a bunch of times to feel manly.

Never got into big bore revolvers, probably never will.

I don't care for the snappiness of .40 S&W or .357 Sig in general, and prefer .45ACP if I go bigger than 9mm.

This 44 mag will make you think about what your wrist is fixin to experience. I usually only run one or two cylinders an outing.

At one time, I did not mind recoil. Even though there ain't much mass to soak it up.
These days, my joints let me know they don't appreciate it. At all. I have no need to prove I can handle larger calibers. I stick mostly to smaller calibers with less recoil these days.
