    Hello,

The ISSF official sitting position is all what you might want to call it but absolutly not the most efficient without vest nor glove.

The one shown here is (not Carlos) very interesting to me. It seems to be very stable and I wonder if some of you had other sitting positions to share for precise shooting in the field.

Thank's in advance and best regards from Switzerland

ETA: IHMSA has some unique positions and we’ve covered this topic before. Dead frog is a good term to search for.

Sorry, I tought we were in the RIFLE section.

Oh, I'm right, we are in the RIFLE section.

I'm shooting 1000m open sights sitting or standing, so my goal is to find interresting sitting positions for long range shooting with a... RIFLE.

Thank's in advance for those who have some pictures and explanation to share about.

Something must have been lost in translation.

The O.P. is a European Citizen with sincere interest in long range shooting.

This is a serious issue in his native C.H. (‘’Switzerland’’).

Please be courteous & factual in replies.

IMHO...if he is serious about long distance shooting (1000m+) he should not be considering shooting offhand. Unless the target is the size of a house.

Targets are 18 inches large and this is the most stable position I found. Yes, offhand Sir with a 96/11 Swiss army rifle !
(picture enpty rifle and opened bold for safety requirement at the range during photo session)

    De rien, Ami.

Remember when Hitler & Il Duce had the Swiss surrounded, they never tried to violate the Swiss Border.

Dad was U S Intelligence Officer; said Germans figured the Swiss would cost them way too many men.

They routinely practice at 300+ Meters. And yes, Iron sights, too.

I was very impressed. College girls carrying uncased battle rifles on city busses!

Is it to difficult to ask you to be serious ?
It's not difficult but it may be pointless.

We have lots of serious shooters in serious shooting disciplines who compete seriously and are happy to share their serious knowledge.

But, on this forum, threads will almost always be peppered with good-natured humor. That standard of communication has been established over years of in-person contact, probably the single thing that most starkly differentiates this forum from other gun forums.

Now, here's a serious question. Can you point me to an online resource that publishes, in English, the rules for your discipline? If so, I've always found that to take advantage of all practices allowed under the rules of a game, one must first know the rules to the letter.
