OK. I only read a couple of pages of this thread rather than all 12, so this might be repetitive. When the .30 SC first came out, I was a range officer in Otero County, NM. We all had a good laugh at the .30 SC concept. Less punch than a 9 but you gain what, two rounds, maybe three? I pretty much gave it no more thought. My go-to is a Smith CSX in 9mm, but I recently enjoyed playing with a .327 revolver and some of the lesser .32s. They are a lot of fun, mostly pleasant to shoot, not to be completely ignored.
Then last Sunday I ran into a thread at castboolits.com on the Super Carry with heavy cast. The guy who posted it was getting perfect feeding in his Smith EZ Shield with a 117-grain blunt nose cast boolit at 1150. This is nothing to sneeze at and similar to the standard load of a .32-20 in a rifle. Being a hopeless gun crank and cast bullet addict, this got me thinking. Then I got an email from Grabagun noting that they are offering the two Smith Shields for $299! Done deal. I have only had the EZ -- my first on this platform -- a few days and shot it once with Federal 100-grain FMJ FNs from Academy for $25 a box.
It is EXTREMELY pleasant to shoot, yet you feel the snap of authority. I have dies and 100-grain Hornady XTPs en route and look forward to loading. I also ordered a wide-meplat 115-grain bullet mold from Tom at Accurate. I am eager to work with this cartridge that I had totally ignored.
I would never, ever want to be in the sights of someone carrying a .30 SC, especially if they had practiced with it. I think the OP's bride would be very well defended with a Shield Plus and 16 of these babies on board.
And yes, it is descended from 7.62 French Longue/.30 Pedersen parents. So what? I would dread being perforated by either of those rounds, too.

Just don't let @zackmars know. We don't want him to feel good or think his 30SC proselytizing is working.

Too late. The .30 Super Carry Cult Church has already sent the membership package to Swedonia with his T-shirt, curved bill ball cap, membership card, membership certificate, baptism date, six pack of lemon-lime koolaid, and $10 off coupon from Federal for the purchase of a 50 round box of God's caliber.

Bobby Hill, if he grew up to carry anything BUT a .30 Super Carry - I hear tell that his choice of carry is a .45ACP Kimber Ultra II in Amythest coloring. If he repents and gets a Nighthawk full size chambered in .30Super Carry, he too can be saved. Accept .30 Super Carry as your lord & savior's chosen caliber and repent for your sinful ways, heathens. Don't be like Bobby Hill.

Thats a funny way to say that .30SC is the perfect round.

Nevertheless we welcome you to the fold.

Given the fact that there is less than a one in 10,000 chance I'll ever need to draw my weapon, much less shoot to "stop a threat", I really don't give this question much thought.
