Short version is wife asked for EDC gun, went around town together and looked at a bunch and she says S&W Shield Plus is her preferred choice based on hand feel alone. Was set on 9mm before discovering there is a new caliber option that seems to make sense for this role. I know the cost is higher but not terrible. I imagine less recoil for this caliber and more seeds in the clip are all a good thing without losing effectiveness.

Any reason not to get the new cal for her gun?
I have 9mm guns so I won't get the 30. It may be the best choice for your wife because it will have less recoil. Small guns in 9mm are quite snappy.

I'd legit rock a full size .30SC for work, if it were legal. Damned state is stuck in the 60's, so the lowest legal handgun calibers a security monkey can carry is .357/.38 or 9mm. A hot loaded .30SC would give similar performance to 115 9x19 with increased capacity. My G34 with mag extensions would go from holding 21 rounds, to 25 or 26 rounds. That'd make me feel fuzzier and warmer, given that we can't use AR's for any reason.

Now that Gaston has joined the other Force Ghosts, maybe his grand kids will step it up and innovate, and give us what we want - .30 Super Carry chambered pistols in one and a half and true double stack configurations from the G43 size to the G34 size - a whole family of guns, with chassis based FCU's (but with Glock safety, not P320 grenade quality) and better texture. Maybe even AXG type metal frames with grip inserts so @Moonpie could have a 1911 grip angle and feel with the reliability of his Glock 19's. Maybe he wouldn't even have to drink to numb the pain after shooting his 1911's.

Better yet would be if Beretta stepped up and gave us a 92X and P4X family fropm subcompact to full size in .30SC - I feel a stirring in my loins just thinking about it.

I know many of you have seen the recent public furor over the size of ice cream cartons. I just want to assure you all 30 Super Carry is in no way connected to the so called “shrinkflation” marketing trend affecting other products you buy.

.30SC folks do seem greatly concerned about shrinkage....

Well, I am now convinced that whatever y'all think of the .30 SC, I believe it is proven beyond a doubt to have caused more teasing and hilarity than any other recently introduced cartridge! That's not a bad thing.
Oh -- and I still would very much hate to be the recipient of a Hornady 100-grain XTP at 1300 fps ...

I just INQUIRED as to how .30SC was working-out; didn’t advocate it.

But, I am looking at small carry pistols for a G-D.

Intent was .30SC vs) .380ACP, not 9mmPB (Luger).

Having recently gotten rid of an LCP Max, I would choose the .30 SC in a heartbeat. I hope someone can fit it into a bit smaller package than the Shield Plus or the EZ.

    Yes, EXACKERLY !

    I recently watched a “review” in which 9mm & .30SC from S&W were compared.

First thing I noticed was that their overall dimensions were identical.

    What is the point ?

I chose the EZ with its 3.68-inch barrel mainly to test the cartridge. In something like the (Glock!) 43, it would be quite a little surprise package.

You should have been here when .45GAP was introduced. We thought Moonpie would never shut up.....

Nah - 6.5 CM holds the more teasing crown. The .30 SC teasing is just in this sub-forum.
