This post of yours, while a valid point for immigrants that refuse to learn the language or assimilate in any way, has nothing to do with this thread.
IMHO, nothing to do with race, everything to do with respect! I would like to see one of you immigrate to russia and start demanding that all federal documents be printed in russian and english, then file lawsuits against the russian government for profiling and demand that they spend their public funds to support you while you refuse to learn russian. Lets see how that works out for you.

OHH OHH WAIT! EVEN BETTER!! Go google mexican immigration laws!
    Thats an interesting read.

a bunch of non-english speaking people packing heat are eventually going to start setting some bad precedents and will ultimately be bad for the 2A movement.

    Geez, guys.
We're gonna take this thread from resurrect to LOCK in record time!

I'm wondering if we can stay on topic of what the OP asked without turning into a two sided lynch mob!
This is the kind of crap that got the politics section closed down.

How is commenting on someones inability to speak english racist? Go look up the definition of racism.
It's not. But that's not what this comment says:
a bunch of non-english speaking people packing heat are eventually going to start setting some bad precedents and will ultimately be bad for the 2A movement. Trust me.
    How exactly?

Please enlighten us all on how a bunch of non-English speaking people who follow all legal requirements and are otherwise law abiding CHL'ers will start setting some bad precedents and ultimately be bad for the 2A movement.

To my mind, the only people bad for the 2A movement are those that would exclude certain groups of people from being able to exercise rights guaranteed by our constitution.

Ill take it to pm dude, as I've stated above, I have amended my thread hijacking trollish ways. ;)
    PMs received and replied to.
If I'm not mistaken, we actually agree on most of the same stuff - and I'm not gonna harbor more than a few minutes of "grudge" against a fellow Texan and fellow gun owner.

...I've also hijacked a few threads in my day.

Definitely a hot issue, to say the least.
I think every post should remain as written too. This is probably a good representation of the kind of responses and mindsets a CHL'er that doesn't speak English too well is going to encounter.
    Take note!

I'm old enough to remember when English was the language used in all schools, grocery stores, advertising, government documents (including voting ballots). We had a special class for 1st graders to teach them English. People who came from non-English speaking countries tended to see it as an advantage to learn English as soon as possible. In my opinion, we didn't have English as an official language because it was not thought necessary to designate any language as an official language. All our founding documents are in English, both federal and state. All our courts and legislatures are conducted in English. By the time people started saying "well, English is not the official language," we had already begun to deal with claims (founded and unfounded) of ethnic discrimination, so it's not politically correct to even discuss the topic of whether English should be an official language. If we cannot even discuss the need for a single unifying language, then we are not likely to succeed as a society in the long term. We will simply continue to disintegrate into little Balkan-like communities. That's not a very pretty picture.

Because of language??? How many languages do you know at a conversational level?

Have you ever traveled outside the US to a non English speaking country?
If so how many people knew English, signs were in English, maps were in English were there and helped you during your visit?

Reel it back a little matefrio, I'm not flaming you and I don't need any back. Perhaps the example of Quebec is apt. Their political strife, manifest in 2 official languages, is a retardant to progress. Can you point to some examples of polyglot countries that don't suffer political trouble? I can name Switzerland, but not many others.

Lets face it friends, english is the dominant language of the planet, were basically comparing apples to cadillacs here. Look at airline pilots and air traffic controllers globally, they are all required to speak english.

I dont see making english a requirement for citizenship/CHL as any more bigoted than the people moving here and refusing to learn it.

No flames directed toward you, t.i., and you don't need to be flaming here. Discussion of language is a legitimate topic for anyone serious about our society. We can agree, or disagree, without resort to profanity. And to suggest that requiring a minimal basic language ability is a "be just like me" requirement is an invalid conclusion. Lots of countries require minimum language in order to be legal residents (eg. scandinavian countries like Denmark). We're talking language, not ethnicity nor racial prejudice. Let's play nice.
