I posted this on the Texas CHL forum and I thought I'd "Spread the Love" here as well. If any of you decide to take a peek and send them an email, feel free.

I came across this product from RAC Holding Company a while back and was all set to pull out the plastic when I saw the infamous "Kids & Guns" link. Thinking I might find a source of Intelligence I clicked.

I was sorely dissapointed to see that it listed all the top gun haters and the second link was the Brady Bunch. All of them had the conclusion that the safest way to store a gun around children is to not have one.

I emailed RAC through the link and had a short and very cordial email debate with a Mr. Gary Hopkins. We agreed to disagree.

They sell what looks like a great device for those of us like myself who cannot afford or don't want a safe.

The RAC Gun Lock, Rifle Lock, Pistol Lock, Gun Safety System - Superior to Gun Safes and Cabinets

If someone knows of a similar device please let me know because I won't be purchasing the RAC devices.

Well, I have to give the company credit that their lock is secure enough to get you killed when you need the weapon.

This should be their advertising slogan:

If you use our lock, you might as well not own a gun!

With all due respect, b/c I know what you were getting at - but don't paraphrase the good word:

35 Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you out to preach the Good News and you did not have money, a traveler's bag, or an extra pair of sandals, did you need anything?"
    "No," they replied.
36 "But now," he said, "take your money and a traveler's bag. And if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one!37 For the time has come for this prophecy about me to be fulfilled: 'He was counted among the rebels.'* Yes, everything written about me by the prophets will come true."
38 "Look, Lord," they replied, "we have two swords among us."
    "That's enough," he said.

So the question is, should you always carry a backup?

Yes, the good Lord was telling us to protect ourselves and to always have a backup. I justify my collection as being able to equip my fellow man with his main and backup if need be.

As far as paraphrasing goes, unless one speaks the original greek and has access to the original documents the Bible was derived from, it's all paraphrased. :)

I always wanted to make a T-Shirt that said "Chill Dude, I got this" Psalms 46:10.
