HR 45 - Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009

Cliffs: Establishes compulsory shall-issue licensing for all handguns and semi-automatics capable of accepting detachable magazines. No grandfather clause.

Now before everyone gets all excited, this happens every legislative session. Some 90%+ of the bills proposed are assigned to committee, attract sponsors, then die of neglect. This bill has no cosponsors at this point and only bears monitoring.

How do you tell a, this is a crazy bill that doesn't have a snowball's chance of even being voted on, to the bill that we really need to be proactive in trying to stop?

It has the proverbial snowball's chance in hell because
    1. There are no cosponsors
    2. It hasn't been referred to a subcommittee
    3. Fresh off the heels of Heller, it would probably be seen as needless infringment on the Second Amendment, be litigated instantly, and probably be struck down by every court that saw it and never make it to the Supreme Court which has already dealt with this century's Second Amendment case.
    4. As much as some folks truly believe that President-elect Obama desperately wants to ban guns, the administration not only has other priorities, but has allegedly recognized that the 1994 AWB was a huge factor in the "Republican Revolution" in 1994.
