I already posted this in Gear & Accessories, but I think it is better suited for this category:

I am interested in ankle carry, but I almost exclusively wear cowboy boots. I am thinking about getting a holster sewn on the inside of my next pair, but I'm concerned about the top of the boot being floppy from the weight. Tell me what you guys think! Suggestions welcome!

If you already have it posted, it's only counter-productive and confusing to post it more times. If you think it's in the wrong forum, edit to delete it then post where you think it better suited. Replies won't be scattered all over.

That said, I'll bet that the majority of members use "New Posts" or something and never waste all the time it takes to scan forum by forum and they'll see your thread no matter what forum it's in.

anyway! ill attempt to adress u question or at least give my 2 cents on it! i must start by saying that i have never and will never be an advocate of ankle carry. in a real sense its very impractical an a self defense situation. most instances occur unexpectedly and require a minimal amount of time to draw ur weapon. if its in your boot you will have to lift you pant leg and draw then get in your shooting position. all of that could cost u precious time that could cost u ur life. now that thats said if u MUST ankle carry then i suggest u find a good quality ankle holdter that provides good retention and fits tight around you LEG. i see ur from Houston also and if any one can understand how the se tx weather prevents the use of covering garments to conceal thats me. just my 2 cents. take it for what its worth!

I ankle carry some & it is good when deep conceal is needed. There is really not a quick presentation w/ any deep conceal. I think you would have a lot of flop w/ a holster sewn in your boot. Opinion only. You can try it & if it dont work you will be some real good company.
Those of us who have been carrying for a WHILE have tried a lot of things that did not work.

Since you posted it in an open forum, it's for everyone to read. If it's just for the OP, then that's what IM is for. Please, carry on!

No, my response is for the OP. im not really concerned with whether or not anyone else has a problem reading as long as the OP is able to read my response to his question. lets keep this on topic guys.

So, when you want to learn something, do you only read posts that are in response to questions of yours alone? I think you're missing the intent of message boards such as this one.

It's good to see you appreciate keeping with forum etiquette/proper conduct and rules and want to keep the thread on topic.

I tried a little subtle nudge/ribbing which didn't go over well, so here's just a blurb taken from the "Forum Rules and Code of Conduct"

    Things that are not Tolerated:

    - Personal Attacks, Bashing, etc.
    - Excessive Cussing and / or Vulgar Language
    - Non-Work Safe Material (ie. Porn, Extreme Violence, Extreme Gore)
    - Text Speak (Ie. U r 2 kul; Ur postz shuld not luk lik dis)
    - Anti-Gun People

    Back to the topic?
