Any reason for concearn over leaving my car carry gun locked in the truck with temps going up. It hasn't gotten REALLY hot yet and it has already felt like an oven after a couple of the warmer days. Just wondering if there any precautions I should take as temps start reaching 100+ outside and god knows what in the cab.

I left my .40 Baby Eagle in there last summer and didn't have any problems but at the same time, I don't go many places and my car is garaged.

Temps here in Iraq in the summer time can reach the mid to upper 120's. Ambient temps inside of the vehicles here can reach upwards of 150-160. If ammo can withstand these temps you should have nothing to worry about.

Thanks guys but I'm not a soldier anymore. I hung that cap up years ago but I couldn't leave well enough alone and I'm over here working for a defense contractor with the state department. It's my third and last trip over here in the last 4 years. I'll be home in about 6 weeks and I can get to play with my toys again.

Thanks for the advise, It should also help that it's in the console I guess. Just didn't wanna get off work and find my console and dash destroyed, or have FTFs at a really bad time.

    Thanks forr your service TMD.

I'd be more concerned with your vehicle being stolen or broken into, and the gun being stolen. Do you have at least a console vault?

Keep thinking that, we were unboxing ammo that was last inspected during Vietnam to feed our .50's as we rolled acrpss the border into Iraq back in 2003.

I do not, but I do park in a small gated and high fenced lot with security cameras so there is an element of protection. And anyone who gets in will likely be going for the large quantities of copper inside.

I considered a vault but figured if they went that far they won't have to much trouble breaking into/removing the vault.

My experience in the reserves was all post 9/11, finished training in august, active in november, overseas in march. Started out in the middle of the who does what debate but by the time I got out decided eveybody was ok, even the air force I guess...with their single man rooms and six month tours and snobby internet guards, but they could use our internet.....anyways, I guess even they had a job to do...lol
