I don't think so. I enjoy looking at the stuff on TGTrader. Lately a pattern has appeared. As prices go up the number of AR type rifles for sale also jumps as rapidly. Seems everyone wants to sell the top. bottom, or all of their AR's?
Rather than the hunkering down that everybody talks about, it seems we have a get the bucks now and take our chances later outlook.
If I could afford an AR I'd have it clean and safely stored away in the safe.
So what is it? Are owners of scary black guns planning for the worst? Or are you exercising the American entrepreneurial spirit and making some bucks?
Please know I have no problem either way, just wondering?

    DFW area.....Wylie.
Good thing I know what you mean by that sentance.....

Okay, now that's funny! Talk about an out-of-context......the media could have a field day with you.

We have ours sitting in the safe. Believe me, I've thought about selling one. But, we have too many gizmo's for them....we'd never come out ahead.

I wish I could afford an AR. I'm hoping to have the money to start buying parts to build one this summer, but who knows what will be in store for gun owners & buyers by then.

Ok, I edited the original post. And had a good laugh at myself too.
If I offended anyone I truly am sorry. I swear it sounded right when I wrote it.

I'd say it's a mix of people that bought them but now need money, people buying them to make money, and people taking advantage of the sellers market that really don't care for ARs any more.

I agree with Texas1911. I also think that the supply lines are slowly starting to fill and we are going to see a number of speculators stuck with credit card payments and increasing competition as the rifles begin to show up again. Timing is everything.

It was absolutely inevitable that the profit seekers; you know the type... they stand in line for the XBOX360, PS3, PSP, iPhone you name it and buy 5 hoping to resell 4; will start to dump their inventories. They cant hold on forever, and the supply chains will eventually fill back up. As much as we all wanted to believe that all these gun buyers were people waking up to the harsh realities of life, a good number were mere entrepeneurs trying to make a buck.

I, for one, am NOT getting rid of my AK or Mini-14. even though I could get alot more for them than I paid. If I wait...I might get even more if there is a ban. If no ban...I know I can at least unload them for what I have in them.

ARs? Well, I always wanted one, but since about last September, the prices went nuts and they got harder to find. Throw in the higher cost of 223 ammo and I am in NO hurry to get an AR. I can shoot my Mosins and 8mm Mausers cheaper than any 223...who knew that would ever be true?

Later on, if the hysteria subsides and prices come down to where the basic ARs are around 750-800 bucks...yeah...I might pick one up. I would also wait to see if the supply of 223 stabilizes as well as the price of 223 ammo.

I am not buying a basic AR for 1000-1500 bucks as I have seen...forget it. Not only is that too high but the cost of 223 is not what it once was and that does not make me want to race out and grab an AR, either.

I am actually praying that we get no ban and if the bad economy carries on and we get high gas prices again this summer, we might see tons of lightly used ARs on the makret for cheap. Hey..I can dream...right?

I have a feeling that's what will happen. I hate to see this country go into a reccession but those will unfortunately happen in a market economy.

Those clowns in D.C. seem to be trying to make it happen.

Our economy is already in a recession.

 My economy is is a recession but............when will this recession hit the sports industry? TO just signed 6.5 mil 1 year contract with Buffalo Bills.....SUper Bowl was still a sell out! I could go on but you get the point. Everyone at my company had to take a pay cut or lose their jobs. The rich keep getting richer and poor gets poorer!

It might be of some note that the AWBII is in comittee. AR's and Mini-14's are listed. It will be re-introduced with a new number in the current session.

I dont believe its a matter of if, but when. It seems to me the first 100 day checklist is moving right along... Economy..check...environment...check...healthcare..check, and so on.
Its ridiculous beyond my scope of comprehension. Like this guy has ever fixed anything. Look at Chicago for God's sake. I cant get over it. cant let it go. What I see is beyond my worst nightmares for this country, guns are just a part of it. The fact that this Congress is allowed to stay in office is a slap in the face of all that is good.
    God help us.
Sorry, but they wont let me vent in the media.
    Best wishes to this forum.

In the DFW area, I am seeing a small number of used AR's for sale, and a large number of brand new AR's for sale, just like normal.

I am also seeing a few individuals attempting to sell their used, good condition, AR for the full brand new price, just like normal. (At the end of the day, they will be mad that no one bought it, just like normal.)

Except for the price, it looks like business as usual around here.

Another possible factor that might bring AR prices down soon: 223 is not easy to find anymore and is not as cheap to shoot as it was even a year ago.

Unless you're last name is Rockefeller or Vanderbilt or you own a Dillon progressive and tons of brass...who can afford to empty 30rd mag after 30rd mag at the range or plinking around anymore?

Ditto for 7.62x39. Thats why AK prices will eventually come down. They're not cheap to shoot anymore, either. And try to find more than a box of that ammo at a time anymore - its nearly impossible!

I think AR and AK prices WILL come down fairly soon. Why pay 800-1300 for a rifle if you can't afford to feed it? Or find ammo in quantity for the thing?

Right now, its cheaper to plink with a Mosin or 8mm Mauser than it is an AR or AK...who knew even a year ago, this would be the case?

I have a new upper for sale because I decided to get a 57 upper so I don't need a spare upper since the rest of my AR's already have one.

As to ammo, I've been able to get the ammo I want when I want it. It's available either online, gun shows or gun shops. The prices aren't all that great but you can still get what you want.

It seems to me that Washington D.C. is looting this nation.

That government up there has declared that our grand children (and generations beyond?) are now in debt, just because the Washington Government decided so.

Those people up there don't represent us, don't up hold American Laws, and have no concern for our Children's future!

I bought my Bushmaster AR a few years back...NIB @ $750. I'll never sell it.

Now I'm buying a .22 rifle to compliment my .22 pistol while I sit on my .223 ammo.
