Here is my review on a light mount that can be used for the Mossberg 930:

The Streamlight 69906 mount is listed for the Remington 870, but I took a chance since I have owned both and they were of similar dimensions where needed.

Streamlight REM 870 Tactical Flashlight Mount 69906

The mount has rounded cutouts for the barrel, to prevent rotation of the mount, and even though the 870 and 930 are different animals, the mount drops right on without a fuss. It can be mounted at the 3/6/9 o'clock postions. The mount ring also has a recessed area that the base of the mag cap/mag tube fits right into. The smooth, metal area actually helps because in the case of the Choate mag extension, there are small teeth that dig into the plastic forend which can make for a difficult time trying to remove it later.

Due to my search for a mount like this, a common issue arises in that the L-shaped mount could be bent if smacked or dropped, but after installing it in the 6 o'clock postion, the 930 forend meets the back of the rail and provides plenty of support. The 3/9 o'clock postions do not off such support, nor does any of the rail-forward postions. Of course, the steel on this mount is just as tough as the mag extension, so any impact hard enough to really screw up the mount would most likely crater the flashlight being used.

I will eventually have a detachable light like an XML or TLR1, but the Pelican M6-LED and ring are shown for size comparisons. Unfortunately, the ring shown is not a 1" ring...I need to hunt one down. But the mounting shows easy access to the clickable switch on the back of the M6.

Vellcrow, just curious but, have you had any problems at all with your Mossberg 930? Reason I ask is I really want more of a "tactical" looking semi auto shotgun (yeah I'm a mall ninja lol), definitely don't want to settle for some hunting/duck/skeet type of semi, and I just don't know if I can quite justify spending $1k on a Benelli right now. In the past I had heard that the 930SPX had some reliability problems, though I can't remember what problems and whether it was even substantiated or not. The 930 SPX seems to be about the best deal in a semi 12 gauge right now. Basically, I just want something with a pistol grip that looks cool. lol ;)

First off, this isn't a thread about Benelli.

Second, Benelli is overpriced for what you get.

I'm just curious too, have you ever switched from conven. oil to a good synthetic then documented fuel mileage as well as had UOA done to extend drain intervals and found it to be worthwhile? How about performance?

Just kidding, well actually just being a smart a$$. Thought I'd have fun trying to take your thread off topic too.

Seriously, I appreciate the "review of the light mount". I've considered one for my 500 but haven't seen anything that really jumps up and down for my. Many are clamp on that can scratch which is out. This give me hope there may be someone similar for the pumps.

    Thanks for the review!

No problems at all. It eats anything and everything.

The only issues I have read about are with the canted sights on the SPX.

Plus, a sidesaddle is now possible:

interesting- but it doesn't look very sturdy. Have you thought about adding a second point of contact between the light and the mount?

Sturdy for what? WWIII? It is used for a hands-free light source around the house while I'm holding a shotgun. It won't be used while I am jumping over and through concrete barricades, it's for house duty.

Yes, I do plan to get a TLR-1 or at least a CAA 1" holder, but this is more than adequate for now.

I'm just saying it would suck if something like a sling getting hung up under the light ripped the thing off is all- or any other bumps and drops bound to occur

To me, home defense shotguns do not need a sling. Light and sidesaddle (or other means for extra shells) is all an HD shotgun should ever require around the house.
