Walked in on 2/16, bought item, told it would be delivered in two days.

    Delivery folks just left.:banghead:

Could have saved more money paying full price and not missing work.

    DFW area.....Wylie.
That does bring up a big question about the 'Dump'.

They say that they sell overstock and leftovers from other stores. Then why would anything take any time to ship? I mean, they don't order from the factory like everyone else at normal discounts.......that's how they get their great prices, they buy up unsold merchandise. Why the wait?

We went there thinking it was overstock, liquidated, etc., type of operation. That's what all the commercials say. Of course the salesman didn't say a word.

Do you really think that if they are picking up stock from other companies (and it wouldn't be form the retail store) and sell for cheap (supposedly it is) that they would load the stuff up and haul it to stick it in their own warehouse?

I would assume it's minimally handled and if it's sitting somewhere, it stays there until the move at least some of it out, or until a certain lapse of time, which would motivate them to sell it fast and negotiate the price to make that easier.

I've never been to one but have been curious to see one.

I've never been to one but have been curious to see one.

I've been to Gallery Furniture (didn't buy anything), Fingers (furniture didn't last long), and Star (most of our home furnishings). The Dump is okay, I guess, open ceiling - painted black, kinda dreary.

I'm not happy with them stringing the deal out. Was thinking about getting some barrister bookcases from them but have since changed my mind.

Don't buy from Nova Furniture. I got some bad customer service from them.

On the subject of furniture, my wife dragged me into a Rooms to Go store last week, just to see what their stuff was like. I am a stickler for well-made, solidly built furniture, and I have to say that Rooms to Go carries a boatload of absolute JUNK. Every single dining and coffee table, chair, and bed post that I laid my hands on flexed and creaked like Tinker Toys.

Now you know how $299 can get 47 pieces to outfit a 5 bedroom house, delivered in 30 minutes. :p

Old Gallery Furniture. How many of you remember when it was the original POS old building when he first started? Anyone remember Jim when he was young and did his commercials and actually still jumped up and down wiht the wad of cash because he'd worked 16 hours that day and was loopy as hell and could only afford the studio time at 4AM, and he didn't change or clean up for the shoot and looked like it.

    Boy times have changed.......

I remember watching Matress Mac, on the municipal (iirc?) cable tv channel, when he was giving a seminar on business. He would work all day, drive up to Dallas, buy/load 5k worth of inventory, drive back to Houston, nap, and get back to work. He also mentioned Paul Bosch driving up to do an introduction. Bosch drove 70 miles in the rain to deliver a 30 second intro. Bosch and Mac, the way work is meant to be done!

Hehe, anyone remember paying $1 to get into the Houston Coliseum for wrestling on Friday night?

Beforehand, I didn't know what that store was all about, but I sure do now. What is also funny is that a few days after that, I saw one of their delivery trucks so crammed full of new furniture that they couldn't shut the rear cargo door...stuff was literally hanging out, barely tethered by some flimsy ratchet straps. I guess you don't need to worry about damaging something that starts out as junk.
