Have you tried different mags to see if they all are hard to insert and remove?? I would say slightly file that mag catch vs. the rifle, maybe some extra metal is on the mag not allowing it to go in easy. I have the same rifle with many different steel 30's from east Germany,Hungary, Romanian, etc and havent had a problem.

Please describe more about your problem.

If the mags don't fit into the gun at all, it needs to be sent back.

If you don't insert the mags properly, it can seem that "they don't work easily".

We need more info, or we're just wasting our time.

I had to open the magwell on mine to comfortably fit drums and some magazines. This guide may be helpful to you.

thanks for your reply, there is a small bur, not as big but a bur in the pic but like you say, and yes i filed it down, works a lot better now. also i filed at the back part of the mag where the release button catches, works a lot better now. As for nalioth, it dont take a genius to put a magazine in a gun that only goes one way, you wasted your time posting your ignoramous remark about wasting "OUR" time, so have a good evening and I dont expect a post back from you since you would be wasting your time

    thank you everybody else.

I didn't feel it was an "ignoramous remark". You obviously haven't seen folks unfamiliar with the AK trying to fit a mag into it for the first time.

Apologies if you feel I erroneously included you in the "new to the AK" group, but you didn't really give us a lot of info to start with.

Sheesh, relax. I'm pretty well-practiced with AK mag changes and I still fumble them from time to time. Changing AK mags isn't easy, and I've seen a lot of people who can't figure it out at all.

I don't see his post as an attack on you.

This is also a semi-common issue with WASR's. It seems as if they get passed out the door without QC checks at times.

Bulgarian mags fit a little too snug for me, but all else I have -- E. German, Pro Mags, Tapco-0 they al lfit a little loose. I do kno wthe mag release is (or was) real tight. I worked it and held it in the release position with a big triangle pin, now it works great...
