I've seen a few people here make references to the low-quality of Model 1 Sales products. Anyone care to share stories, good or bad? Everything I've seen anywhere but this forum had been good. I have one of their uppers but have yet to buy a lower, so I'm pretty curious.

Canted front sights, bolt heads breaking off. Seen both, and not just once.

1k rounds into my hbar carbine upper so far, no problems yet. I've built 3 lowers ( for friends who bought them) with their parts kits and would not recommend them or their bcg. Their lpk's come loose in a ziplock bag, and I've had to use spare parts that I had to complete the builds.

Were those crooked front sights just the actual sight post, or the whole sight tower? A crooked sight tower makes me think the barrel wasn't installed right but I'm no AR expert.

    Good replies, guys. Thanks!

Whole sight base. Or else the pin at the breech was located wrong, take your pick.

You really can't screw up installing an AR barrel unless you over or under tighten the barrel nut. The only way to get stuff crooked on the barrel is to screw up the machining.

As you can see from the comments, they get mixed reviews. My take on them is that they can build a good AR, but don't necessarily have the best consistency. I love a good bargain priced AR, but I think when it comes to Model1 there are other companies that have better consistency for the same price.

Ive looked at Model 1. But since they are in Texas, you get the 8.25% tax. While i would love my money to go to a Texas gun maker. The tax keeps me from doing it.

If they offered free shipping in Texas, then I buy from them all day long. But I can't see taking the hit for both tax and shipping.

Gas would be more then shipping from Hutto to way north of Dallas. So thats out too.

I have a 556 target bull barrel. Not one FTF or FTE in appx 800 rounds. And it shoots 1/2" groups. I'm extremely happy with it.

I bought the complete upper. It fits on my Rock River lower with no issues.

A guy at our local 3 Gun match brought a new Model 1 Sales rifle to a match a while back. First stage the bolt snapped in half where to cam pin hole is. Within 2 weeks he had a new bolt at no cost to him from Model 1 Sales. He had his rifle ready for the next months match where it promptly sheared the new bolt in half at the same spot. He bought a different rifle after that. That's my only experience with Model 1 Sales so they're not on the list of guns I'd recommend.

Most of the dirt I've heard on model 1 is typically in regard to the to timely reciept of products, product description, general customer service. Not typically gripes against the product itself. I built one of their M16 kits with the triangle hand guards. Aside from the wickedly cool vintage factor, the accuracy of a 24" barrel, the quality of the weapon was very good considering the price. I used a stag receiver on my build I believe. (A2 Naturally ;))

I was just looking through their catalog today considering a cheap pistol build. However, Im relatively new here but even I know to take what M. sage says as law, so I'll be doing a bit more investigation before shelling out any sheckles to Model 1 in the near future. The canting issue scares me...

Heh, I was JUST on there. That's weird. I love spikes quality, but I had words with some upper management for reasons I'll keep to myself and have sworn them off. I should probably get the hell over it. Spikes are great guns.

My fickle eye has now turned to a CMMg .300blk upper (yes in the last 39 min) haha.

My first 300blk barrel was a cmmg, since midway kept fuxing with the dates on the AAC barrel they listed on back order. I couldn't spin my can on the end. The thread were nasty.
Got credit on the barrel, and bought the Wilson barrel instead. AAC was still back ordered.
Wilson barrel is nice. I'd get one again.

    Cmmg, not so much.

That makes two I've seen and two I've heard of. Yikes.
