That's horrible:(. It says she has a history of mental illness, but...I don't know that in my darkest hours I could've even considered doing something like that to one of my kids...

Unless ofcourse the ZOMBIES show up and I'm almost out of ammo...j/k

I also feel bad for the range owners...I can only imagine the crap those guys are going through after that. Talk about bad for business, not to mention the QandA.

Always a tragedy. The bad thing about guns is they are fast and final.

Any shmuck can drink, drive, drug, slut, anger, eat, bulemia, and/or hate themselves (and others around them) to death, but at a much slower speed. It makes for less negative news coverage.

Jimi Hendrix and Mama Cass are idolized and their abuses not demonized by the MSM. This poor kid will be used to further a lefty agenda.

I don't really know what to say.
Apparently the family knew she had issues; this makes me wounder if the family knew she took the boy too the range?
If the family was unaware that she planed to take the boy to the range this make it premeditated.
You never know when someone cheese will slide off their cracker.

    Boy? He was 20.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but whenever many of these tragedies occur, one can usually identify one or more obvious mistakes that led to, contributed to or facilitated the act. In this particular case, a MAN went to the shooting range with a woman (who happened to be his mother) who had a history of mental illness. That statement alone sends shivers up my spine!

That's horrible. It wouldn't have been so bad if the mother had just killed herself, but to kill her son too. Well at least the's dead. But a young kid's life was taken in the process that's just wrong.

Sorry I thought it was a good report that was more in depth than ones I had seen on various forums, I wasn't trying to one up anyone or show any gore. The videos really didn't show anything more than the pix did

Nothing to apologize about. The video should have never been posted in the first place. Think about it. If this happened to your son or daughter, would you want it played and replayed all over the internet while morons may inane comments?

I really didn't look at it that way but I do have a son and a daughter and I really don't know that I would want ANY of this on the internet about them but I am not sure it could be avoided? Hopefully something good can come from any wrong but if a tree falls in the forest and nobody heres it does it really make a noise? Believe me I am pro gun but this lady should not have been in the range  HELL she was already banned once how could that be the guns fault?

I'd say the range is going to take a big hit for this. I'm sure the family's lawyers are already gearing up to sue the range.

The whole idea of gun rental is a controversial one. Many ranges choose not to do it at all, where others only rent to people they know and trust, or people who've taken a lesson. I strongly suspect that ranges will stop renting guns following the notoriety of this story.

This is truly a tragedy. I couldn't imagine being on the firing line when it took place. What must have (and continues) gone through the other customers minds?

We'll probably start seeing ranges do background checks on rentals now. I've never rented a firearm before, but I had always assumed some sort of check was being done. Guess not.
