Lol, not everybody in Texas wears a handgun, and we don't wear them on our hips like in Westerns!

Handy and reliable? Geez, where to start? It's kind of hard to recommend a handgun (or rifle or shotgun) without knowing what you would expect from it. A self-defense gun for daily carry? A sport pistol for competitive shooting? Something to keep the home safe? Just target shooting for fun?

Tokarev TT-33 and Makarov PM are two great guns from your home country that are reliable and useful. The PM probably falls more under the "handy" category, since I'd rather not try concealing a Tokarev every day. But I'd much rather have a Tokarev for a home-defense pistol.

The gun shop I used to frequent before I moved was run by a couple of ex-Russians. I used to call them my Russian arms suppliers. :p

Does it matter? Whatever we recommend you can probably not really find in Russia-- FInd what you can get in your country, test it and get it. I do not think though that your government-- if you are from Russia and in Russia-- will grant you that right anyway. You probably are better off getting one through unconventional channels and just not flaunting it.

(OK, tell russians come back to homeland ;)

    Thanks for reply!
I was armed with PM when on duty service. This is yes...
Preferably a revolver, I was thinking of Nagant system,
it was produced in Tula, Russia a century ago, and was
    used in militeria till 70-es.
    But, Nagant is not handy.

But we can arrange to purchase a license to Russia? why not.
Real economics here needs a bust, why not handguns.

NO, to be precise, this not might come as a sindicate,
spreading weapons worldwide, I think much probabable,
some kind of shareware toward souvenir/tourist business,
best country's products, like swiss watches ;^)

About our government, I think this fears not to grant rights, but rather
    not to turn into halifat.

For me this matters. I heard of handy US Zebra pistol, but never found
    one except pneumatic...

The Nagant wouldn't be my first choice for pretty much anything, either. The trigger is really heavy (20 lbs in double-action), the ammo is somewhat hard to find and isn't up to modern performance standards. It's rather small and low-power.

I suppose one thing that you can fix is the ammo availability. There are drop-in cylinders to convert a Nagant to .32 ACP. But I'd rather not bet my life on .32 ACP...

Am I the only one who thinks all of this a bit odd????

    Odd, but amusing.

Resin will be slippery in winter... though leather would be much
better in the long cold winter... imagine. Say, drop the gun deep in the
    snow.
And wolves get closer and closer. Grasp, grasp, help, yelp, nope..
    There are some here.
