The Person killed by police in Austin while reaching for his gun was "A Good Kid" He was arrested the day before for robbing a lady at an ATM---out on bail, he shot out windows in an apartment. His ethnic brothers threw bottles at police. Perhaps Darwin was right.

I was going to start a tread about this if I didn't see one after lunch. The Officer involved is an eight year veteran of APD and decorated. He was runner up for officer of the year in 2008, the thing that every one (including those that support the officer) needs to remember is that we do not have all the facts of the case yet, and we need to refrain from speculating. The only tarnish I have heard of on this particular officers record is that there was a domestic dispute that got him a 15 day suspension. He apparently was having an altercation with his girlfriend and she had his cruise tickets and he went in to her residents to get them. I do not think that there was any physical assault draining the altercation. But that is what the people are complaining about as far as I can tell.
But I will add that if you act like you are going to pull a gun on me wile I'm in uniform with my "batman" belt on you will at least see the end of my barel, and if you continue to draw yours you will hear it and feel it to.

Yes, but he was just about to turn his life around.

NAACP Branch (I guess) president said after a meeting with chief Art Acevedo, that he doesn't think the police are doing enough to stop the "problems" in the community.
I think the NAACP is a racist organization that should be shut down and finally told to shut the F up! They started out with a good cause and now they are the black version of the KKK, only stronger with more political power than any one party in Washington for sure. I'm getting sick and tiered of good cops getting held to the coles because of they're racist bull shit.
I have no problem with a watch dog group to keep the government on it's best behavior.but who watches them? I would also like to say that when people use racial slurs it is bad for the human race. IDGAF weather you are black, white, green, orange or multi colored. If you look down on another human being based on skin color alone, you are just as bad as the KKK or Hitler. I'm sorry if this offends anyone at all, but no one will say it. I'm sure someone will call me racist, or a "right wing extremest" but I do not care, someone has to call them out on this.
once again I'm sorry if I have offended anyone in anyway, I don't mean to be so blunt but that is the only way to put this. None of this is intended to be racist toward the black community, but is intended to so how the NAACP uses the people involved in a crisis for their own political agenda.

SONG: "I fought the law and the law won" !

When a thug goes for his pistola to shoot one of our law enforcement, it indicates he intends to add that officer's life to his list of evil accomplishments, and when he dies by being outgunned by that officer I have to call it a good shoot. Good riddance, saved the State untold money later on.

As far as the NAACP, I give them the same credence as Hamas, and middle eastern rabble rousers.

It is still to early for speculation about the shooting I think. I was planing on getting into law enforcement but now I'll probably go to school for welding and get certified and get back into it, because I do not want to be public enemy number one for doing my job. But good luck to all those that do not mind the heat, you will all need it some day.:( And one more thing, I do feel bad that someone had to die. But every time I see the family bitching on TV I care less and less about their pain, and more and more for what the officer is going threw. If you little boy was a "good kid" then he would not have commited armed robbery.

For sure! I would rather spend my life sucking those (have to be toxic) fumes than spend it in court fighting some dumb ass that dose not even realize that you did not take the job for the money, you do it because you care about his safety and well being. I just don't get it.

    A new development?

I think the police said it was a fellow gang member  making false 911 calls trying to lure officers to specific areas to "ambush" them the suspect was arrested and is being charged for something about terrorist threats (at this time). I'm not sure if the two cases are in fact related but I think they are. sorry I haven't been able to find the story in print yet.

Why is it every time a criminal gets shot by the cops, all we hear about is how he was such a "good" kid?

We always here "good kid","he was turning his life around" nice words but meaningless unless you back them up with action.

Personal responsibility folks then you will have no need to turn your life around, stop blaming others for your mistakes in life and be proud you do so. My sermon for the day.

The boy's funeral was yesterday and there was NO traditional police escort of the procession. I think the news lady said that police felt it was not safe as fellow gang members of the boy have already tried to set up ambushes for police officers. There was a girl on the news this morning saying that he was a good boy that fell into the wrong crowd and was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
So your sons fellow gang members are trying to ambush police officers in retaliation for the shooting of there "friend" and, the father is still adamant that "he was a good boy" and that "we're still not happy with the way APD handled the situation..." but he was a good boy?
So was Charles Manson at one time but things change.

Ellis Ingram IV is the name you want to search for the phone call dumbass that got arrested...

The dead dumbass "good kid" also had been arrested with 35 grams of crack that he was likely selling to those same people claiming foul. Just a speculation of course.

The dead kid's family lawyer said he was a good kid also, I would hate to see his idea of a bad one if a crack dealing ATM robber is his idea of a good one. Those events are just what he got caught for so who knows how many other people have been endangered by him...

I am not particularly fond of some so called cops after seeing them lie on police reports or leave out words and phrases when quoting people to make a statement something it was not, but I hope she gets drug under an 18 wheeler some day for her lies... but I still think the Austin cop deserves a medal for saving who knows how many people from future acts by the piece of shit "good kid"

I have some insight to this incident (nothing that will endanger the court case or civil proceeding to follow).

The deceased was 18 years old. He had been arrested 9 times at least.
Some of his highlights including shooting a gun off at a building, dealing crack cocaine (35 grams is alot of crack for the uninformed),robbing people by assault, possession of other narcotics and fleeing from the police.
He was NOT some innocent person who walked into a 7-11 and was randomly targeted by police.
He was carrying a pistol in his waistband, passed out in a car. When he was awakened by multiple police officers (in full uniform) he reached for that gun.
Reaching for a gun you are carrying when confronted by police clearly shows intent to use it.
Any good law enforcement training will tell you that and I can assure you his academy training (first hand knowledge) taught him to shoot that suspect IMMEDIATELY to eliminate the threat.

In the end the NAACP and community activist morons who have no jobs or purpose in life except to gripe about everything, will pressure the chief to take some sort of internal action against the officer.

The officer will get NO BILLED by the grand jury and then the "activists" will throw a fit and make more noise, throwing the race card around like beads at Mardi Gras.

The city of Austin paid out the last moron who ran from police then reached for the pistol he was carrying...1.5 million dollars. Well they paid his family since he was deceased due to Darwining himself by drawing the gun. I am sure the city will pay this morons family some money for him being stupid.

This is a lesson for the young folks...you do not need life insurance, just do something stupid and get shot by the police and your family will bank some big cash.

    End of rant.

No matter what the family almost always sides for the member of the family, that is to be expected. My deepest regrets go out to the officer that was forced to take a life. It is always sad when a police officer is forced to take a life not only for the dead man but for the officer as well. The officer will never be the same again. He will replay the events of that day in his mind and in his nightmares for the rest of his days. He will analyze every aspect of the incident over and over again in his mind. And all for a public that hates his guts and tries to crucify every police officer they can. Kinda reminds you what they CAN be facing when they walk up to a car window. Someone asked my Grandpa once (a now retired police Sgt) what a routine traffic stop was like, and he laughed and said "there is no such thing as a routine traffic stop"
