We got slammed pretty hard yesterday by the storm moving in. Lost trees, flashing from the house, shingles went crazy (but stayed in tact) and power was out for 3 hours. The damage this storm did here was amazing for a summer storm. We don't know if we got hit by a tornado over the lake or if it was just winds but it was awesome.

I have video here I'm going to try to download from my phone.

Hope everyone came out alright from this storm. It hit hard.

Hope your new house didn't take it too bad, and if so, I hope it's all covered by your insurance.

Some areas got it way worse than others. We're maybe 10 - 12 miles from you, and although we had some high winds and lots of rain, only leaf clusters got blown off the trees. A branch did come off of a Bradford Pear tree just outside my fence but didn't hit anything. (A good fart will blow branches off those threes) We did have 4 1/2 inches in the rain gauage this morning, and it's starting to rain again.

The house is ok. The neighbors said they watched out shingles act like flaps on an airplane

We'll get a Sears guy to come out and put flashing back on and cap the chimney that needs to be done as well.

It rained ALL. NIGHT. LONG. I'm sleepy today for sure. I'm a light sleeper so any distraction keeps me awake.

I think I'm going to work on those trees today. Get them off the fence.

Get a qualified roofer to inspect the roof...you probably have some damage not visible from the ground (or by the untrained eye). The next storm you encounter could be disastrous.

Wow that sucks Shorts but I'm glad y'all are ok.
Houses can be fixed or replaced.
Lots of rain and no sleep due to my chicken Australian Shepard.
    About 12;30 I got a 70lbs dog right to the mid-section.
Had to go sleep on the couch and let her lay right beside me so she would calm down.
No damage other than leafs stripped off the trees - I think- lol!

    crazy puppies!

Yeah, we're good. Got to look at the silver lining though. At least my lawn gets some water. Our sprinkler system has no power to the control panel right now (fingers crossed it's the 9v battery inside) so I missed my weekly watering. This is free!

Those trees are going to be heavier they they look. I was barely able to move that one branch I had to deal with (about 4" dia). Of course I was bare footed and slipping and sliding in mud! You're going to need a chain saw for sure.

Bright side, you're grass will appreciate the extra sun light...

We had confirmed tornado's here in Flower Mound but I'm not sure there was any real damage over and beyond what the wind did.

We also have leaves and small branches, like tiny, down and that's it. Even the Mama Dove sitting in her nest outside the kitchen window in one of their famous lousy nest placements, is still there this morning. All wet, but still sitting there.

That said, theres trees down all over the place, over roads, fences etc. Most are Bradford Pears (YEA!!) so al's good. They need to go anyway. We lost 2 of our 3 about 5 years ago in a storm like this in down burst winds. I took out the 3rd, largest one, and found it had cracks down into the main trunk. They're crap trees that need ot be taken out after 8-10 years in the ground if they last that long. After that, without careful pruning every year, they are too heavy and they can't handle the weight of themselves, and the wood is very brittle. I was lauging as I snapped 3" branches with my hands. The wood just explodes.

The rain I was happy for. 2 1/2" over night with constant lightning isn't what I was hoping for, but I got the yard done yesterday afternoon and decided not to water to see what would happen. Now I see what happened. But not he yard has leaves and crap all over; I need to vacuum once it dries and if the rain stops.

I got to get the dangly flashing off so it doesn't continue to tear off more pieces or damage the siding. The lightning and rain make this task extra challenging!

in the sambass/live oak circle area I got 1 1/2 rain and quarter size hail. The wind was not too bad. Dont have to worry about shingles, metal roofs are the way to go
