The wait time for a pistol at SPS Guns in Carrollton is bullsh!t. Larry, the owner, 'claimed' he ordered 5 Kimber pistols back in December; I'm skeptical.. He (Larry) told me I could place a pre-order with his gun shop for my pistol, a Kimber Ultra CDP II. So on April 30th I put down $200.00 as a downpayment. Waited until June 2nd for my gun to arrive at SPS Guns. It never did. So, that same day, I picked up the phone and called around some of the area Kimber dealers [a list generates on Kimber's website for dealers in your zip code]. Sure enough, the first one I call - Bass Pro Shops in Grapevine - had one Kimber Ultra CDP II .45 left in stock. And behold, my new Kimber:

Apparently my $200.00 downpayment at SPS Guns is non-refundable, and cannot be used as store credit. I think that's wrong, it's bad business, and I wouldn't recommend SPS Guns to anyone. That's my two cents. Happy to have my pistol, but feel conned/mislead/misinformed out of my $200.00.

Odd OP. Undoubtedly you want kudos on the gun but the majority is spent ranting.

You asked about all this before you made the down payment, right?

Well, I for one would consider $200 lost on a Kimber a good day. I have 3 of their paperweights and will never own another.

You asked about all this before you made the down payment, right?

Firstly, the difference between ranting and informing is one of opinion. Secondly, who are you to tell me what I want? You're nobody. Thirdly, I did ask about 'all this' before the transaction. There's no written policy that was disclosed to me and/or visible in the shop regarding refunds, and verbal agreements are non-binding in the state of Texas as of 2007. You can read about all of this and more on the internet (you're on it now), or through the Better Business Bureau. But pace yourself. Reading takes time and discipline.

Imo, when one post their new item on the internet, it usually means you want to show it off and get likes/comments on it.

And on this day, zero fucks were given...

I'm with Rsty here as well. If only you would have been a jackass in the OP then I wouldn't have wasted that ounce of care on this thread. Good day sir.

I wouldn't have given anyone a non-refundable deposit unless there were stipulations put on the dealer about the length of time

the guy should give your money back IMO

So are you still getting the Kimber from SPS guns also? Or what is the plan there?

Your second post was a little over the top but whatever.

Nice gun and thanks for the heads up on that shop. That is not a good way to do business.

I don't think I'd put a $200 deposit on a gun on the promise that the dealer would order it for me. Definitely contact the BBB.

And yes, your second post shows a level of defensiveness based on insecurity that's a little frightening...

    Okay....couple of things here...

    1. You ever ordered a Kimber before? A 3-6 month lead time isn't unusual. Given all the recent BS, it could well be far longer.

    2. When I'm looking for a particular gun, I look for it before putting down a deposit somewhere.

    3. Larry's VERY upfront with his policies......I can promise that he DID inform of his refund policy. I've dealt with the man, and found him a straight shooter, but one that doesn't suffer fools readily, or those w/mangina's.

    4. You had a bit of a different story on another forum you related this on.....
