Please write and let your Representatives know how you feel on this bill, I continue to write and call not sure it has any effect however we must try,the cap and trade bill will be further loss of jobs and increase cost not sure how much more average Joe can take, this administration seems determine to turn America into a third world country, importing more and more people, outsourcing, loss of manufacturing and rationing health care, sure sounds and looks third world to me.

If you thought crap was bad now wait and see what this will do to your pocket book.
The coal industry is up in arms over this bill! It has the potential to cripple their industry beyond rebound.
What it will eventually do the the oil & gas industry is questionable.
Being a mineral owner I've spoke with several in the know and they say as far as the natural gas side it's a + but on the oil side it's bad news.
These folks in DC want to look out for the future? Well stop spending money and burying my great grand kids in debit!
This world has gone through many changes and global warming is IMO and that of many scientist is BS!
Oh crap now I'm pissed off again!
Need to go fondle a hand gun and calm down!

Honestly I hope everyone gets pissed, this country is changing fast and not for the good, we simply are squeezing the middle class out and this administration wants to be in control of what, when and where you do anything, total control simply that is what it's all about.

Fortunately, my elected representatives feel just like I do on this matter. Unfortunately, they are in the minority. Unless we make enough noise to sway some Southern-state Democrats we're going to get this abomination jammed down our throats.

yea i just heard about this, this morning on wbap, in 2035 the avg price each household is going to pay on this tax is 6800 dollars, not the 175 dollars that pelosi says, there are 3 parts to the bill, and she conveniently left lots of it out...

not to mention the bill is 1201 pages long, between them drafting these long bills and hiring speed readers, they (dems) are doing all they can to ruin this country for what they see fit....

That's not that bad.....as long as they can guarantee the average household has an income of $750k +.

I don't know that I can remember a time when "we the people" needed to be be on the asses of our elected officials as much as we need to be now.

Agree, we need the America youth to wake up to the facts this government intends to in debt them for the rest of their lives, personally our government appears out of control more then anytime I can remember in my life and sad to say it appears so with both parties.

From someone I know that's in a position to know about stuff like this: Oil companies are already talking about moving their refining operations out of the US if this becomes law.

So much for "energy independence" promised by those idiots pushing this bill.

BTW: it passed the House already, so don't bother writing your Reps. Send letters to our Senators. U.S. Senate: Senators Home

CEI Releases Global Warming Study Censored by EPA

The Public Shouldn’t Be Kept in the Dark by an Agency Supposedly Committed to Transparency

Washington, D.C., June 26, 2009—The Competitive Enterprise Institute is today making public an internal study on climate science which was suppressed by the Environmental Protection Agency. Internal EPA email messages, released by CEI earlier in the week, indicate that the report was kept under wraps and its author silenced because of pressure to support the Administration’s agenda of regulating carbon dioxide.
The report finds that EPA, by adopting the United Nations’ 2007 “Fourth Assessment” report, is relying on outdated research and is ignoring major new developments. Those developments include a continued decline in global temperatures, a new consensus that future hurricanes will not be more frequent or intense, and new findings that water vapor will moderate, rather than exacerbate, temperature.
New data also indicate that ocean cycles are probably the most important single factor in explaining temperature fluctuations, though solar cycles may play a role as well, and that reliable satellite data undercut the likelihood of endangerment from greenhouse gases. All of this demonstrates EPA should independently analyze the science, rather than just adopt the conclusions of outside organizations.
The released report is a draft version, prepared under EPA’s unusually short internal review schedule, and thus may contain inaccuracies which were corrected in the final report.
“While we hoped that EPA would release the final report, we’re tired of waiting for this agency to become transparent, even though its Administrator has been talking transparency since she took office. So we are releasing a draft version of the report ourselves, today,” said CEI General Counsel Sam Kazman.
CEI is a non-profit, non-partisan public policy group dedicated to the principles of free enterprise and limited government. For more information about CEI, please visit our website at www.cei.org.

I hope they don't find away of spiinning around this scaving report.

For Texas, I know Carnyan is against the bill, and I'm pretty sure Hutchinson is as well, but I emailed them both and urged them to be proactive in defeating HR2454.

Cap and trade is a load. Allow other countries to get wealthier while Americans get taxed to poverty. Gee, how can this be bad for the USA??

Those in control of our government(not sure who that is) seek a leveling of the playing field making us like other countries and one way to do that is destroy our economy, outsourcing,no manufacturing, extreme debt, huge taxes, nationalized/rationed health care, etc. Simply wipe out the middle class and you have a rich/ poor society a socialist utopia.

Kudos to Kay Bailey Hutchison (albeit from her form letter response)...

"...I believe that a cap-and-trade approach to address climate change would be onerous and would adversely impact the economy. It could create economic hardship for farmers, ranchers, workers and small businesses, in addition to consumers. The last thing our nation needs during this time of economic hardship is higher energy prices and higher levels of unemployment due to a federal mandate passed down from Washington."
