It's always funny when Kimber bashing starts, it's comparisons to semi-customs and boutique/small manufactures that are made. Never other mass producing 1911 manufactures (although there is none as large as Kimber which has it's own challenges)

If a shop makes 100 and has 10% with issues, that's 10 guns with problems in a year. When a shop makes 50000 and 5% have issues, that's 2500 guns with problems. Which problem guns will you hear more about or read more about on the internet?

But it's the shop that makes 50k with half the % of problem guns that will be the one that's the POS.

Well by that logic, Colt would be the best. They have made millions of them over the last 98 years. And lets face it they have more skins on the wall then any of them, litteraly.

I appreciate your logic here, and I try to avoid Kimber bashing as much as possible. My one and only Kimber experience was with a Tac Pro II. It had technical issues from the time I brought it home, to receiving upon return from a factory warranty visit, to the day I sold it. All I had to compare the Kimber to was a gun safe filled with other non-custom, semi-autos that were all 100% reliable from the beginning.

I know others have had good luck with their Kimber's. I wasn't one of those and apparently I wasn't alone in my experience. Still, as a courtesy to my fellow shooting enthusiasts I refrain from using the POS term when describing my experience with this particular Kimber.

Unfortunately some of the problems I had with my Kimber could have been resolved at the factory with better quality control and maybe even some good old fashion reliability testing.

So my desire to add a reliable 1911 to my collection is tainted by a sample size of one experience that I still have a hard time getting over. It's disappointing at best.

Having said all this I'll give Kimber credit for building a nice shooting 1911. When it works; it works.

I doubt you'll find too many people that can look past the Colt name and Colt of today is a high quality gun.

Did I mention all Kimber's being Made in the good old USA?

Either side will always have comes backs. Unless we succumb to mind control and allow ourselves to be mass programmed to think alike and give up personal opinions. It's all good and in fun.

I have a Colt Gold Cup 70's series that I bought in 1976, have fired 1000's of rounds through it and have had zero problems. it is still my favorite weapon

Darn, this seem like reasonable discussion.

I was hoping for some throat biting, nail pinching "My gun is better than your POS!!!!!!"
