I hope no one is bothered by me posting this info in this thread. Talk of Saturday's shoot had waned and turned to 'where/when are we going next'.

I stopped by to see one of the guys in charge today but he wasn't at work. I will try again tomorrow schedule permitting.

The website states if there are no scheduled events, members can use the range at will. Nothing is shown on the calendar through the end of September BUT, to be fair, nothing has been listed since February either. I need to find what, if anything, that means.

Just so I don't have to back track I count 6-Yes and 2-Maybe:
    Clarke
    Greg
    Ben
    Sugar britches
    Brains
    subseashooter?
    AKmike?

Hellz yea Brains, we need someone to givez the poo poo to

I imagine this range does allow steel core steel cased 7.62x54r through a mosin nagant? Haven't shot my mosin in forever and I'd be down to shoot anything so long as it makes loud noises and has recoil.

Not gonna lie, don't know anything about that round. Why is it not allowed at most places?

I went to a range in Dallas that required hollow point .223 to shoot into their dirt berm. Of course they were the only place that carries hollow points and I wound up paying 1.10 per round. If I wasn't there helping someone shoot for their first time, I woulda just loaded my rifle back in the blazer.

Rip-off artists like that are one of the few uses of social media that I consider worthwhile. Post to facebook. Tweet. Hit every review site. People like that need to feel the pain of lost business.

I wasn't sure if it was normal outside of hicksville. If y'all are saying that's not normal, then hell yea I'll leave bad reviews all over the place. Yahoo, Google, Facebook, yellow pages, throne site that people use strictly for rating businesses....i have patience lol

I have read repeatedly on this site that a number of outdoor ranges prohibit FMJ ammo. It seems they're mostly around Dallas. None (that I know of) in or around Houston have such prohibitions.

So I ask the question here - Does anyone know of a valid reason for an outdoor range to limit their users to HP ammo? I can't think of one and I'd be hitting the review sites. However, I'm certainly willing to be educated about special circumstances that I've never encountered.

    What say y'all?

BTW - This is the definition of thread drift. My apologies to any who object; if a mod wants to delete this, you won't get a squawk out of me.
