If she wants to be around her father, then no I don't care.

If someone wants to use her to make a political point, now that is a very different story.

I guess I'm lucky that I don't have daughters. I'm stuck in a time warp, cause this doesn't seem right, or good, to me. She's a kid, on a presidential trip, from fingernail polish to the peace sign, to everything else, it bothers a grumpy goat like me.

D, I contest the words, President's Daughter. I have never considered him other than a foreign impostor with no legitimate proof of American born Citizenship. He went to an American College under the name of Barry Soetero from some other country.

But I always enjoy your informative posts and choice of words, keep 'em coming !

I guess we'd need to go back to JFK to compare a president who had small children. I can't recall JFK's kids on trips, and if they were, they were not making any fashion or political statements. Of course that's a different time, and news coverages was minuscule as compared to today.

I'm all for laying off kids in the political arena, but if they do voice opinions, they become fair game in my book. (Not saying wearing a stupid T shirt is a political statement though)

Well I'm sure it's a fun trip/treat for them to travel. I don't think it should be done on official business, on my tab. I don't recall the US Navy allowing me to travel with my DH when he went to foreign lands on deployment or TAD.

That said, why is a daughter there and SoS Clinton is home on these big foreign trips?

Same here, I hope I didn't come off as bashing her. I think it showed bad judgement on her parent's part as parents and politicians.

I think it's rather normal for a young girl to be somewhat liberal in thought. The peace sign shirt has become pretty mainstream these days and has very little impact. In a nutshell I see nothing wrong with it.

This does NOT mean I sympathize (or agree politically) in any way with her globe trotting father.

    UH...

    NO.

Globe trotting father??? I think that's part of the job description. And he was bashed in the beginning for not globe trotting enough and interacting with foreign officials.

As to his girls travelling with their dad on official business, this is commonplace in every administration we've had. GW's girls travelled with him, they were appointed 'official ambassadors' to the delegation that went to China for the Olympics (Grandma Bar was on that same trip as an ambassador). We probably spent more money on the Bush girls' Secret Service detail than on the Iraqi war. ;) Chelsea was sent to Sydney Olympics on the company dime. And let's not forget, Amy Carter advised her dad on foreign policy. The children of presidents will always, in some way, be an extension of the Pres.

Damn, I miss President Bush, the younger ! The rotten leftist media tried to go overboard reporting of the growing up of his daughters but we knew they were just ordinary good American kids. I miss Laura Bush, the last American First Lady, also.
The goodness and honesty of that fine woman !! Its Katie bar the door now with the American hating one married to the American impositor.....

My point, exactly. The Obamas should know better and should have shown more respect and judgement. The kids are still living under his roof.

:patriot: Make no mistake I'm not an Obama supporter.......never have been...never will but hey I don't see a thing wrong with his daughter wearing a PEACE T-Shirt......isn't that what we all would like to see? As far as his daughters being on the trip and our dime......what I read was the flight on Air Force One was free (to anyone on board) but after that the Obama's kid are on Obama's dime.

The money part where the kids are concerned should be free. Not like they are 18+. I'm still not thinking letting his daughter dress the way she did was a good idea. Now if she were on Spring Break I might see it a little differently.

But what do I know, my grandmother was a virgin til she was 85.

obama or not no u.s. presidents child should dress like that when they know they are going to be photographed. It is just inappropriate and uncouth for a first family member to dress like that at an event like a g8 summit in my opinion it shows weakness and it is just my opinion and i understand if anyone disagrees its just the way i feel.

Not trying to start anything, but this is a good post for what I wanted to say. Let's talk about intentions. A girl wearing a peace sign at school or the mall, whatever, the daughter of the "president" of the US, wearing a peace sign at a political event, not normal, and definitely not to be confused with another girl at another place. She is a billboard, the shirt is the advertisement. the daughter has now been thrust into the spot light, and David Letterman should have fun.

More than likely if David letterman were to start poking fun at obamas daughter he would be made out to be a racist by the obamanites
