Just got back. I'll echo craigntx's report. The venue was big enough, which was one concern, I thought it might be a bit of a chintzy little show, but no, it was pretty well fully attended. Parking lot was a nightmare, but inside there were plenty of vendors (all the usual suspects were there). Some ammo gougers continue to live in fantasyland, but some folks were getting more reasonable. By "more reasonable" I mean they're still asking 25-50% over retail, but that's a lot better than they used to be!

I heard a lot of vendors trying to make sales. Offering free ammo, or a free class, if you buy a pistol from 'em. Prices weren't great though. I did see an XDs for $20 less than I bought mine for, so that wasn't too bad.

We didn't see a single one of the regular dealers at the HGCA show. Sounds like everyone went to the Woodlands instead.

We did find a couple sweet deals: cheap chinese switchblades, ninja stars, nazi articles, and tasty jerky and nuts.

Yeah the ammo at Carter's Country was cheaper than the show.

Nice to meet a couple of y'all there. I had on the ollive drab TGT shirt and probably looked dazed and grumpy. I remember a guy said his screen name was "english" and another member talking to me about a used colt gold cup stainless available locally for a decent price. Sorry, Ruth and I were out of it from lack of sleep Friday night. All in all a decent show, decent venue, free parking (if you could find a spot) with a decent turnout ! The food was sort of gross but hey, it's a gun show. Stick to the jerky, can't go wrong with the jerky!
