Went to Academy today to see if they had some ammo I wanted.
Well, they've changed the ammo policy since 2 weeks ago when I was last there.

Now there's only a limit on 9mm and 22lr (2 boxes per person).
All other is on the shelf and no limit.

They had a LOT of .40 and tons of .45
Plus I finally found JHP .380 there for my wife's gun (and it was only $17.99).

Things are looking up. Hopefully this is a signal that the ammo shortage is nearing an end I hope.

I hit all of the Academy stores within 40 miles of the DFW area when they opened up at 8 am but so far only 3 box's of 380 ammo in the last 2 months. I started checking their web sites to see if they have any ammo and they do show they have ammo however you can not order online since you get " available in select stores only " but do not say which stores. If they are stocking up now I will start checking them out again.
    Thanks

I've seen 380 on the shelf, but I don't remember where since I don't really buy it much. I'll try and remember to pay more attention and let you know where next time I see some.

Thanks. I am down to 3 box's of 380 ammo so fun time at the range is out. I won't go below 3 box's however I do have 6 mags full.

In the past, when Academy has 380 behind the counter and they had limits on it, I'd buy some, then my wife would buy some too.
I just bought 500 rounds from Freedom munitions a few weeks ago. Wasn't cheap $162/500 rounds, but I wanted to have over 1000 rounds of it.

I go to our Academy 2-3x per week. The shelves aren't empty, but are still lacking. Yesterday, they had very little 9mm, no .22's, no 30-30's. They did have some 5.56 and .223 though. At least when they have it, my ammo goes up two boxes at a time instead of one.

Freedom is remanufactured ammo meaning exact same process as new in box, just used shells, guess it's still reloaded, but the have the same constancy and quality as NIB ammo.

Was at Wally world this afternoon in Hillsboro. They had about 30 boxes of WWB in 380 on the shelf. No 9, a few SD 40, no 45, no 22 but a decent pile of 380.

Plus I finally found JHP .380 there for my wife's gun (and it was only $17.99).

Before the "rush" Academy sold Monarch .380 brass cased FMJ for $14.99, and JHP for one dollar more.

That would only have been less than one year ago.

    Welcome to the new normal.

I am shooting up the last of my Winchester .380 FMJ that I bought for $7.99/box of 50. The brass is going into the reloading bin.

$17.99 is a good price compared to 2008-2009 when it sold for $50.00/box of 50.

Check out the prices at www.pbrammo.com (parabellum research)

Their boxes are in 100 quantity. They are my new fav place to get ammo and are usually in stock. They are a Texas company. They are REALLY cheap. They limit you to 500 rounds at a time right now.

    That is all.
