Haven't seen hardly any M1As for going on about a year now. I'm interested in the Scout Squad model.

Has the production of these rifles dwindled? Has the AR10 types eaten into its market?

Or they are just flying off the shelves as soon as they come in?

Cabelas in Allen had three of them last week (Labor Day)

one of the SOCOM models - and two of the wood stock base models

they are really proud of them based on the price

Gander Mountain in Lewisville had two - a synthetic and wooden stock

no scout versions unless you count the SOCOM

I should have mentioned the model I'm looking for in the title. I have seen the standard models and the SOCOM too. As much as I like the SOCOM, I feel the scout would be better for my purposes.

I have seen a few in the Temple/ Killeen area without even looking. I am not sure about the Scout model specifically though as I don't really look for M1as. IIRC the prices weren't the best either.

Gander Mtn in Round Rock had two a few days ago. Cabelas also had some last time I was there, too. I've never seen a SOCOM 16 with a green stock in a retail store otherwise I would have bought it :p

After the fuss about "assault rifles" died down, the Baytown Academy brought several M1A's out from the back room and placed them on the racks for sale. Prices were average.

I stopped trying to make my full match M1A shoot like a black rifle at 200 and 600 yard matches even using match handloads. I sold it and stayed with the AR-15's.

i looked for the scout online for several months- saw several on armslist.com that were WAY over priced

i was looking for the mossy oak version which seem to be even more scarce

i sorta gave up to be honest
