Made my first attempt at shooting some doves this morning. Pvtsnowball82 came out to my place in Hondo and we gave em heck (sort of...) I took 21 shots and bagged 4 birds, Pvtsnowball82 made 3 kills. Had plenty of opportunity but my aim wasn't what it needed to be. Hopefully, it will get better with practice. Will see how they taste a little later.

It takes some skill and training to get them. I couldn't hit squat and had my buddy throwing cow patties up for me to shoot when I first started. No amount of bacon and japs would fix that.

Good job. 4 is just right for a decent meal. I prefer to batter em' up and chicken fry them in peanut oil. Some mashers and brown gravy and pick a veg of your choice....a delicious combination. I'll have to try the bacon wrapped and stuffed approach. I bet those turn out well. I hit 6 on the first day of the season, stretched them into 2 meals.
Don't feel bad about 4, it will take a few trips to get your timing just right. I like to run a modified choke and no. 7-1/2 shot although I may go to full choke next trip just to squeeze a little more range out of my gun.

Another fun part of the day, getting to use my new Yildiz 20ga semi auto shotgun I purchased from Academy. Great looking gun and it ran incredibly smooth.

Looks like you had a good day. Dove hunting is very enjoyable.
You can sit, talk, even enjoy a cup of coffee while 'hunting'.
