They don't "let us" own many cool things up here, this being an exception

Our laws are sometimes just as stupid as yours - sometimes more, sometimes less - but I'm glad they got our SBS/SBR laws right* (uhh, still not 100% "right, but more "right" than the US).

12.5" Dominion Arms (Chinese 870 clone) with FDE Magpul furniture.

I'm pumped to shoot it (pun intended), although the action seems to stick when opened and is a pain in the ass to close. Not sure what's up with that, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

I'm new to the whole SBS/SBR thing.

How are the regs different? Someone said you don't have to "register" it but you still have to pay the tax stamp right?

If there's no tax stamp in Canada and you don't have to register it then I'd say you're a step up from us :)

Yeah, no - no "tax stamp" or anything up here - that's strictly a US thing. No registration either. And they ship it to your house when you order it, no FFL transfers either.

But our laws still suck for the most part.

Now that's a home defense shotty I can get behind.

Meaning I'd much rather be behind the trigger than in front of the muzzle.

Seriously, if we could have those I'd switch my home defense primary from a .45 ACP to a 12 gauge. However, I'm not going to add 33 to 50% to the cost of my shotgun by trying to do all the NFA nonsense.

Nice. About the sticking, did you file the inside of the magpul forend, or cut it in half down the center of the top? If not, the 870 mag tube is a tad smaller than the Hawk, so a lot of people force them on. That always results in sticking open action, at best. If you did not file or cut to make the forend fit, that is definitely the problem, and it will NOT get better over time. It will be like that until you fix it. I knew of only one case of sticking that was a result of putting it back together. Could not figure out why, but after taking apart and putting together again, it somehow fixed itself. I'm assuming it was an off alignment in the internals and slide rails. That one was not modified at all. I'm no gun smith, but I have literally worked on exactly 8 of these shotguns and all but 1 that was sticking was due to the owner forcing an 870 forend on. If you didn't modify the forend, you're gonna have one hell of a time getting it back off. I knew a guy who damaged it so badly, that I had to order him a spare action tube, because the other one was so slightly warped that you couldn't see it, but could feel it, and it just wouldn't stop sticking. I hope this isn't your problem. As stated, if you did not modify the forend, it is definitely the problem. Otherwise, take it apart and meticulously put it back together. Hope this helps.

OH! Here's a cool little trick I almost forgot to mention. You know how when using 2.5 inch shells, you can ALMOST get that 5th one in, but just can't? Well if you pull the follower out and cut it to about 3/4 of an inch, and leave out the end cap that goes on before the nut, it will fit. NOW, if you cut it too short, the follower can turn on it's side, in the mag tube. I can send you pics if you decide to do this.

The only thing, I just realized, is yours is a 4 shot. Both of mine, and the others I've worked on, are all 5 shots (6 with the modification). If you have around half an inch that the 5 shell will not go in, it will work. If you DO need a new action tube, order a few followers and give it a go.

Damn, it's like you're a wizard or something. LOL.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. I had to beat the crap out of the forend to get it on. The "original" one came off no problem, but the Magpul was a tight fight to say the least.

I did actually try to file out the inside a little bit before pounding it on, but I still had to hit it a few times with a small brass hammer I have to get it to line-up.

    PM sent, thanks.

Whispers: It's cause I'm watching youuu.

MAN! Honest mistake, but with almost anything in life, if you have to force it, you should stop and analyze the problem, cause there likely is one. Don't worry, we'll fix this. At worst, you'll have to buy a new action tube. They're like 30 shipped. Going to the PM now.

Oh, BTW, it was NOT fun watching you hammer your tube in while you were wearing that mickey mouse nighty. NOT fun at all...
