Or some kind of tropical weather.

There's a low with good characteristics going over the yucatan, with just a hint of circulation. Once it gets back over water, conditions will be ripe for growth and it will likely spin up. Indications are that it will be steered to central mexico, around Tampico, then putter out, but there's a slight to moderate chance that it will drift as far north as Brownsville. And of course a slight chance it will come somewhere near the central texas coast.

Probably won't get strong, probably won't be anything more than a good rain shower, but you should already know to be ready if you live here.

Never hurts to be prepared, as you never know what a TS will do. IMO and I'm not expert, but I believe the Houston area won't get much from this ...

I live in Katy and don't plan on going anywhere. I moved here from New Orleans in 2010 and am done with evacuations. I even left Houston for Rita when I was "displaced" here by Katrina. Never doing that again. It took us 5 hours to get 30 miles north of 610.

Unless it is making landfall as a 3 or greater. I have watched them build the houses around here, and heard the walls creaking on mine when a front moved through. I don't think these are built like the brick outhouses that populate New Orleans.
