Just curious what people who are more familiar with the DFW area consider to be the best gun shops and LE/Mil. supply stores in the area to visit?

Jackson Armory in University Park. Lots of cool weapons and antiques. Cool little shop with very friendly people more than happy to talk to you. Mr Jackson is a class gentleman.

Rays Sporting Goods on Singleton. Just on the other side of the new expensive bridge from I35. Lots of stuff, very very nice people.

Well there is Cabela's and Bass Pro of course.

Some other ones are GT Distributors, Cheaper Than Dirt (politics aside they do have a lot of firearms) McClellands, Jackson Arms, Bachman, Rays, and Military Gun Supply

Any particular place in the DFW metroplex you'll be visiting? As you probably know, it's a pretty big area geographically, and you can drive an hour and a half from one corner of DFW to another depending on traffic.

Aside from that and in addition to the other shops mentioned above, one other cool gun shop to visit is the Beretta Gallery in Highland Park. Granted, you need to be rich to buy some of the stuff from there, but where else can you get a glance at $100K+ shotgun beauties!

Thanks guys, I try to do my own research usually but things like this are just hard to do on the internet if you're not personally familiar with the area. Seeing as you might find a place that looks cool, mark the location, and then when you get there they don't actually have a store front, or it's just a horrible little pawn shop.

The only ones me and my friend are really familiar with already is GT's since that's where we buy out gear from most of the time, Cabela's and CheaperThanNoOne.

Thanks man, I wanted to visit the Beretta Gallery but didn't get to do it last time. I'm pretty well open to anything and everything in the entire DFW area since the trip down there is made solely for eyeballing and gun/gear hunting.

Exactly! However, if you have the fuel to waste, time to waste, go check it out for yourself. That way you can witness it first hand. CTD is a no go in my book.

For military surplus, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Omaha's Surplus on White Settlement Road in Fort Worth. They're about the best military surplus store I've been too, and that's saying a lot. Next up would be Army Navy Warehouse just off I35 near the Dallas/Carrolton border. For gun stores I use Call to Arms in Denton. It's a small store and they don't have a lot of firearms on hand but will order whatever you want for a very small mark-up. It's run by a friendly Father/son team and always have coffee on the pot and a couple of good ol' boys willing to shoot the shit with you.

I've driven by there a couple of times and wondered about that place. Good to know though I'm hardly in Denton anymore.

+1 on Beretta Gallery, try to make a stop on every visit I make the that area. Unfortunately I hate to waste the visit there and always buy something. Been successful in finding come clearance items, shitrs, knives, etc. got lucky (unlucky from the bank account hit) a couple of times with the better stuff :O

Just a thread I wanted to see. I'll be heading up to north Dallas around Lewisville/Flower Mound area. I'm mostly into curio and relic collector firearms. Could someone suggest some stores that might carry those items? Don't mind traveling 30min or so from that area.

I looked up Bachman's and saw it wasn't too hard to get to from the office so I went there over lunch.

Very impressed with the store. I wouldn't say all of their prices were great. A few handguns were marked up well past what I would be willing to pay for them but for the most part the prices were about normal and sometimes a little less than I've seen elsewhere. The selection was outstanding and they actually have ammo (slight mark-up, not bad considering they don't have Wal-Mart's buying power) and tons of magazines.

    Will definitely be returning.

I've never been to their store but see them at gun shows (big display). My only dealing with them was several years ago a few weeks after my F-150 pickup had been stolen with 6 of my guns in it. A guy had come in with a AMT Automag in .44AM wanting to pawn or sell it, and had been trying to use .44 Mag ammo. The Bachman guy assumed that the customer didn't know anything about the gun and probably was not the real owner, so they made an excuse and went in the back and called the police. The gun was determined to be the one that had been stolen from me and the perp was collared by the cops. Unfortunately, the nab did not enable the rest of my guns to be recovered, but I got the Automag back without even having to pay a pawn fee (the pawn didn't ever happen). The next time I saw them at a gun show, I went by and thanked them for being so attentive.

Wow. That is so weird. When I was in there today they refused to sell to someone because they were sure the guy was going to give the gun to his girlfriend and there was something about her not being able to own a firearm (convicted felon perhaps?)

Anyway, all because they just happened to overhear a conversation. They could have pled ignorance and easily made the sale. I was very impressed.

I was just browsing around but they were very quick to offer to help or pull out anything I wanted to look at. I generally don't handle guns unless I'm actually interested in buying but I sure did appreciate their service.

Jackson Armory maybe? I've never been, but they might have what you're looking for. I think they're in the University Park of Dallas, so I'm guessing their prices may reflect high quality collector items, but I could be wrong about that.

Most of the gunshops listed above are good places to visit. Bachman in Dallas and Gun Gear to Go in Plano are two places I've done business with recently. Their new gun prices are reasonable (of course you can beat the prices somewhat if you do some shopping around or buy online). They also occasionally have some good deals on used guns as well. The four or five times I've been in Bachman, they've had good prices on multiples of a particular model of police trade-in (Glock 22, Beretta PX4, etc).

As for Jackson Armory, I've been there once and browsed at just about everything and was never asked if I needed help or wanted to look at something in the display cases. I was a bit surprised by that, but I didn't speak up because their prices were absolutely INSANE on almost everything. You should check them out on Gunbroker. They try to sell regular run-of-the-mill firearms for $100-$200 more than what everyone else is selling them for. They also put language in the item description about not contacting them with negative comments about their prices, or they will report you to Gunbroker. I guess the truth hurts. However, they just might have something special and unique that may be of interest to you, but be prepared to pay a high premium. I guess the value of anything is what another person is willing to pay for it...even if it sits on the shelf for years and years until the right sucker comes along. :p

I thought it was JacksonVILLE Armory. Either way, if it's the place in University Park I wasn't super impressed. From what I understand if they think you're a good ole boy then you are their best friend. They have to buzz you in to the store, which seems a little ridiculous.

Prices were nuts online but in-store it was the typical range from "That's not bad" all the way to "Is this a joke?" Truly someplace to do your homework before you go. Probably not a great deal to be had but their selection was good when I went, so there might be some hard to find gems in there. Hard to say because the store layout is a helter skelter. I found it very odd they would buzz you into the store but never ask if you needed help. I browsed around for awhile and left.

I've found better places when I'm serious about buying. Problem they didn't seem to understand is the guy browsing today may come back with cash tomorrow. I rarely see a gun and decide I have to have it right away.

It's Jackson Armory...here's the website: Jackson Armory | Specializing In Quality Firearms

Yep, I was in there looking around for at least 20-30 minutes and it was like I was invisible. I was dressed appropriately and I look like a normal guy. No big deal really, because it's not likely that I would have paid their prices anyway. Maybe I caught them on an off-day, but I have to say I was not impressed with their customer service. I won't be going back because although they have lots of guns, I do my research before buying and I certainly won't pay $100+ more for a regular Sig, HK, etc.
