Those whitehouse petitions always crack me up. You really think the president gives a shit about your opinion on something he just signed. That site is nothing but a pacifier. You want to make a difference? Contact your congressman and go here
    Regulations.gov
    And comment where it counts.

The recent public outcry regarding Syria helped prevent Obama from bypassing Congress. The white house has also responded to some of them. Most recent was regarding breed-specific bans. It never hurts to be vocal about issues.....look what the citizens of Colorado did recently when they fought for something.

But I agree with contacting your representatives. I've sent emails to all of mine in regards to this issue. No response from any yet. However, the ASA and NRA are already on top of this.

The reason the president went to congress over syria is largely a matter of opinion. I dont believe it had anything to do with the people being pissed, more along the lines of Putin out-playing him on the world stage and making O look like an ass as well as wanting Congress to share the blame if shit went south but thats for another thread. The whitehouse petitions for all the gun stuff months back did nothing and what happened Iin Colorado is nothing like the whitehouse.gov petitions. The good people of CO used a legal procedure to recall the two senators. There is nothing legally binding about the whitehouse petitions and youre petitioning the same person who just signed the damn EO. The word futile comes to mind, expend your efforts where they count. The regulations site is overseen by someone who has to assess the legality of the EO which as many have stated is questionable given the reprecussions of being stuck trying to find a CLEO to sign off on your NFA items.

Yes contributing to the ASA, being an NRA lifetime member, contacting Cornyn and Cruz as well as posting on the regulations site is doing nothing. You know what they say about ASSuming.

being vocal is better than being silent. No point in putting down tad's effort.

I've contacted my representatives and submitted my opinion of regulations.gov already
signing a petition took 5 seconds. If it didn't help, I'm okay with wasting 5 seconds trying to help.

Lazy, Lazy, Lazy.....This is the problem with people. Coming up with excuses on why they haven't signed it or won't sign it. It really bugs the hell out of me that I when to war for a bunch of lazy people. You guys need to get on there and sign that thing. All it take is a media outlet to see all the signatures and then bring up the resistance to the change on TV and the lack of support. That EO will be thrown out as soon as it makes may congressman in their district look bad because they didn't get involved. If you ask me, having something on a public website like whitehouse.gov is more useful than emailing a congressman and only getting a automated "We'll check it out" email.

Or you can sit on your ass and watch the NFA industry and all the people involved burn to the ground in bankruptcy. I can guarantee you that all of those CNC machines aren't paid off yet. Low sales will = no sales soon after.
