Ok guys. Need a Ford tech. Have a 06 Ford explorer. How TF do i get the code for the door? Ive already took pics off the module by the driver side kick panel. None of those numbers work. Did Ford place the code somewhere on the vehicle? If i gotta pull a panel...oh well. I want to leave my ride running while i go into a store.

My freakin son figured out the door code on a Tbird. How the hell he did it, idk. Guess thats why hes now a software engineer....so i know it can be done without going to the dealership and letting some tard touch my lady.

It is against the law in Texas to leave your ride running while you go into a store.

I googled it and came up with a few sources, though not for your exact model. But keep in mind I really only looked for a few minutes to see what was out there.

Yep. I usually park next to a locked idling patrol car. As we both eat taco bell. Call me an outlaw i guess. The only difference is my fuel isn't bought with tax money.

Please dont lecture me about the law. Been there, done that.

Oh, you are special. Didn't know seeing police cars or showing a picture of a badge made you an exception.

That guy at the dealer may be a tard, but I bet he knows how to figure out that code ;)

I thought that law was specifically for UNLOCKED, cars and trucks? Could be wrong. But yeah, I've never seen the statute so I dunno. But have any of yall ever seen a LEO turn off their car, while goin into a store, restaurant?! Even on prisoner transfers, we left the car running.

grasshopperglock. What module did you take a picture of? Should be the LCM or BCM module. Lighting Control Module/Body Control Module. If that's a no go, the Ford dealer can give you the key code.

Ford used to (early 90's) post the code on a sticker on the underside of the trunk/hatch lid, drivers side. Not sure if they still do.

OP, don't have anything to offer you other than a word of good luck.

This thread reminded me of something though. Why didn't more auto makers employ this technology? We had a van like this once, a Nissan I think, and it was so convenient.

Think it is becoming obsolete. Our new car uses a proximity sensor for the key and unlocks when you touch the handle.

You can get in and start it, then get out and lock the door. Key is nothing more than a fob that stays in your pocket and it has a push button ignition. Not really new tech and it isn't a high end car. Dodge Journey.

It can e pretty convenient but a big part of me wants to use a real key. Might be why it isn't real common yet.

    TXI -

You yourself had state before that we all break laws from time to time and we have to decide for ourselves when we do it.

Something so morally reprehensible as leaving your vehicle running while you go into the store would probably fall under the "that's a silly law" heading for most of us.

In fact, I'm trying to think what the basis would be? Preventing theft? Saving the environment? Some laws are just stupid. This is one of them.

The code is on a credit card size card in with the owners manual, but it is a separate laminated card. It also tell you how to change the code to a personal number, but the default number still works always.

Ford has to read the computer to dig it out if you lose that card.

Even after one changes it to a personal code?

That is the factory code default. That code will always work no matter what you change the code to.
