    hello folks,

Here looking for a place to hunt hogs or other varmits in central texas. Oddly having a difficult time finding somewhere to hunt hogs. From what I hear they are supposed to be a major problem. Any recommendations - not made of money if you get my drift.

    Thanks

Oddly? Where have you looked? You can't swing a dead cat at Google and not hit a ton of outfitters that offer relatively inexpensive hog hunts. If you're looking for handouts, forget about it..nobody is looking for "have gun, will shoot your pigs for free" panhandlers. LOL

I've got some guys wanting to hunt hogs on my land, but I have told them its going to be after deer season, which for me starts in 2 weeks.
I'm saying that on places that are hunted for whitetail, it might be hard to find someone wiling to let you hunt hogs prior to or during peak white tail season

Yup there's a HUGE hog problem in Texas. Populations have swelled to near 2million just in our state. Major property damage and people slam into them on the highway at 85mph. But try and shoot a few to solve that problem and you'll get called a bastard cheapskate get the hell out of here!!! Wait a little while and the real emotional ones will come out. Be prepared to PAY and sign a mountain of lease papers to help solve this huge hog problem in Texas. The hog problem isn't big enough .... yet.

As I have said countless times," hunting" them does absolutely nothing to control the population. All inviting strangers onto your land to shoot does is invite liability.

Alrighty then. I will change my stance to just letting them live and protesting any hunting of them.

Look, I am sorry that your cheerful disposition does not open the floodgates of land owners inviting you to come on to their property and shoot. I truly am perplexed as to why you aren't invited more often.
Your ability to grasp math and biology is utterly astounding, and I am unsure why other landowners do not recognize this and beg you to come out and shoot one or two pigs. Really.

Don't lie. You're not sorry. Don't get all grab ass over me as I really don't care. It's the bitching about a problem that can be easily taken care of that gets me? The fact that a land owner can muster up the energy and grit to be on TV and claim that these damn hogs are a HUGE problem and they are costing me money. Yet they let it go on and on and on for years and years. Never meeting ONE person, even in their own family, to help take shots at these little piggies.

Ifin' it were me I'd find a way.

15 years ago people would let you hunt hogs for free, some would pay bounties. Now alot of them whine about damage but when someone offers to get rid of some, they ask how much you will pay them per hog or wont let you hunt them at all but lease to deer hunters. I am willing to pay a working lease ranch, but not to save them money when they will pay a hogger a lot more. Best to make friends with some ranchers and prove yourself or go to one of the day hunt ranches.

How often do YOU personally witness/hear the farmers and ranchers "bitching"? What impact does it have on YOU personally?

Your best bet is to find an old timer with land that still does business on a handshake.

A lot of the "ranchers" you find online are too busy trying to convince everyone that they're part of an elite class, and to that end, they'll just be rude to you.
