I wonder how many people these things actually effect. Anyone who gets a real job would be hard pressed to make less than $15 an hour.

Heck, the McD's in Midland pays a lot more than that.

The problem with minimum wage is that it is your bosses way of saying if they could pay less, they would.

Minimum wage was never intended to be a living wage. If you make minimum wage, your job sucks and you need to ask yourself what you can do to better yourself. Believe it or not, there are jobs out there that pay decently without a college degree.

As someone who used to be dirt poor and understands who difficult it is and how soul-sucking poverty can be, the answer is not to turn to the state. The same people who pass these laws, which end up helping no one by the way, have no interest in bettering your situation. They just want your vote and would prefer to do the bare minimum for you while making sure you are grateful for the scraps they throw your way.

They failed economics 101 if they do not think cost of goods and services will not adjust to this increase, thereby neutralizing it. On the other hand, by passing this measure, they passed politics 101 - Pandering to the Poor and Stupid.

You're right, but like everything else, Im sure no one will notice until its time to ask for another hand out.
